Hi, Is there a reason people suggesting not to use a visa agent. I like using visa agent ALWAYS cause I think they make the whole process way easier. Know the correct documents to attach. I honesty don't want the headache.

Are most of them fraud. Do you know a good one?

Some expats believe that agents simplify the process by knowing the requirements and documents needed for visas, while others caution against them due to potential fraud and the risk of misinformation. Users highlight their personal experiences, showcasing both successful outcomes and warnings about the legitimacy of certain agents. The thread emphasizes that applying for certain visas, like the DTV, can be straightforward without an agent, yet acknowledges the convenience that agents can provide.

Nothing wrong with using an agent, just not necessary. Application is easy & will save you money. If convenience is more important then using an agent is a smart move.

As simple as fill out the form correctly and do it right. Most people mess up when there's issues. No ego should be had.

There’s alot of people that already have their dtvs in the group that are weirdly mad that others can also obtain the same exact visa and come in here daily trying to make others feel like trash purely out of jealousy is what I’ve noticed… the strangest behavior I’ve ever seen. If I have my DTV… I’ll be out there in Thailand living my life not stalking the group and talking down on people that use agents or doubting their process. The only time I’ll enter the group is if I have a question which is so hard to do here with those types of people. I’m currently using an agent and I’ve had 2 other friends also use agents that have successfully got it. I understand some visa agents can be sketchy and non trust worthy but that’s why you go off reputation and references. There’s no need to talk down on someone using an agent otherwise in my opinion.

All agents are paying immigration for the service, if nothing else the payment skips queues and waiting.

The problem you have is you never know what exactly the agent is paying to compromise on. If you don't know 'what forms to attach' how do you know they are not paying to skip something required?

Even the most legitimate of agents is still corruption, you can choose to engage in that but you cannot both have easy service and be clean of corruption.

The problem is and something which has been in the news lately is that you don't know how legit they are. If they are involved in something scammy and use non legal means as part of the process then you could be held liable and potentially in a lot of trouble. I had a very bad experience with an agent many years ago that was highly rated and it taught me a valuable lesson. Now I'd only use an agent as a last resort.

Applying for a DTV is generally very straightforward and is primarily based on documents you already have available. The eVisa application itself guides you through the required information and supporting documents, and there are also communities like this one dedicated to helping DTV applicants through the process.

Another important point is that when an agency applies on your behalf, you may not always know exactly what information or documents they are submitting through the eVisa system, and if they decide to submit something false it could result in you being blacklisted.

Where an agency can provide genuine value is with vetted supporting activities for Soft Power applications. However, if you already have those activities arranged, or you are applying under the Workcation category, there is usually very little an agency can do that you cannot reasonably handle yourself.

For that reason, many people understandably question the value of paying an agency simply to complete a straightforward eVisa application on their behalf.
