My husband plan to move to Thailand for long term. What is the best Thai visa that we need to request from Thai embassy in USA?? My understanding we should request N-O base on marriage, but not sure how we can maintain the visa for years.

- We are expecting a child.

- My husband is Amazon seller in US.

- I am Thai and we are living in US.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A suitable option for your husband's long-term move to Thailand is to apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage to you, a Thai national. He can obtain this visa at a Thai consulate in the USA. The Non-O visa allows for various extensions and can be maintained through border runs or by applying for an extension at a local immigration office after meeting certain conditions, such as maintaining a minimum balance in a Thai bank account. However, be mindful that online work (e.g., Amazon selling) requires a work permit in Thailand.

2 good options

Different options. 1) apply for the 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National, on entry he get 90 days of stay and than he must do a border run to get a new 90 days of stay. 2) Apply for the Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on married with a Thai, on entry he get 90 days of stay. Open a bank account on his name, deposit minimum 400.000 Thb into this account and after 60 days of stay he can apply for 1 year Extension of Stay at local Immigration Office. Before that year ends, he just apply again.

He can apply single entry Non-O based on marriage to Thai national before leaving home country, and can apply 1 year extension based on same reason at immigration office when he is in Thailand, if meets the requirements for both time since requirements are different when apply visa at consulate and apply extension at immigration office inside country,

I got it. Thanks you very much

Wannisa, you are right. You need to check with immigration office where you apply extension. They will give you hands out. Because each immigration office has slightly different requirements. Please refer

Getting a Non-O Multiple Entry (Non-O ME) based on marriage would be best, but there is one big catch:

Your husband's Amazon business.

Legally, you can not work without a work permit in Thailand, and you can not get a work permit working online.

I also don't know how long those Non-O Multiple Entry based on marriage will continue. As of now, there are only two places that offer them to my knowledge:

1. Savankhiet, Loas

2. Hochiminh City, Vietnam

So it is something to keep in mind and think about.

EDIT: These two cities don't require the proof of income or seasoned money. Non-O ME based on marriage can be found in other places, and if you can prove the income or the funds, you can go elsewhere.

Just make sure you establish a solid paper trail of the monthly dividend distributions from an offshore account in to HIS bank account. They should appear as international transfers lest they be confused as domestic wage earnings.

Good one mate lol

He's not working for the Amazon business. Any money received from that business is a dividend. Not much different from someone who spends 3 hours per week managing their retirement portfolio.

Savanakhet and HCMC are the only Consulates that offer that visa WITHOUT proof of funds. It's more widely avaliable with funds.

He should go to a Thai consulate in the US and apply for the multiple entry none o visa based on married to Thai. That'll give him one year then after that get the same visa outside of Thailand such as Laos. This is what I do.

It would be WAY better to see if he can get a visa from a thai consulate in the USA before you wing your way here.

So you cannot request one year visa in Thailand right? 😧😧 I was hoping we can renew the one year visa in Thailand because we are planning to sell everything in US and move to Thailand.
