TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application process raises concerns about potential rejections and the non-refundable application fee, which can be up to 10,000 THB. Experiences shared by users indicate that while some individuals have faced rejection, many noted that embassy officials usually pre-check documents before payment to minimize the chance of denial. Insights reveal that applying from outside Thailand is preferred, as applying from within the country without solid proof of residence is a common reason for rejection. Overall, while the likelihood of receiving refunds after a rejection seems low, some embassies maintain strict document checks which can mitigate risks before payment.

What diffrence if you apply in Thailand because you have to leave to activate it so is that illegal to apply in thialand šŸ¤”

Bad visa history or fraudulent documents?

Survival bias. Rejection may be more often than you think. People get rejected probably wont post their experiences here since its probably their own fault.

I got my own from one my business and one for my friend Working remote my other business.

All very smooth. From the uk
Roberto *******
What criteria arenā€™t you meeting when rejected? I mean, itā€™s pretty straight forward.
Dan *********
At the consulate in LA they are charging more than 10k and they make you pay first so itā€™s a concern haha šŸ˜‚
Valerio **********
@D**
pretty sure all consulates make you pay upfront?
Valerio **********

THAI ******************************
Many people reach out to us daily with various reasons for their visa rejections.

One of the most common issues is applying from within Thailand without providing solid proof of residence outside the country. Another frequent problem is the failure to present a consistent bank account history of 3-6 months, though the strictness of these requirements can vary by embassy. If you have a older account then use it!

While we offer comprehensive support with DTV applications, please note that we cannot reverse a rejection. If your application is denied, the process must start over, and the application fee paid to the embassy is non-refundable.

For those concerned about their application, we offer VIP services both for applications submitted from within Thailand and those from abroad.

@THAI *****************************
so you can actually apply from inside Thailand along as you have evidence of funds and a home outside thiland?
THAI ******************************
@Paulie *******
We take them on a same-day trip to the nearest consulate for a rush approval / review, so you are applying outside of Thailand.

For our services it is case by case but we choose the least inconvenient option for the applicant.

If you lie on your application you risk possibly denial, loss of application fee, or issues with your first entry.
Andrew *****
@THAI *****************************
Added the line group but the person said only for e-visa which contradict with the service of same day trip to the nearest consulate.
Brandon ************
@Paulie *******
Only if you lie on the application, thereby making it a fraudulent application.

lie about what?
Brandon ************
@Paulie *******
You cannot apply from inside Thailand because the application specifically asks where you are currently located. If you answer Thailand it won't even let you continue with the application. The only way to do that application is to lie about your application, which would make your application fraudulent.

@THAI *****************************
within Thailand you mean that are already in Thailand? They have to go to a neighboring country to apply at consulate / embassy right? Thanks

We take them on a sameday trip to the nearest consulate for a rush approval / review.

It will be case by case but we choose the least inconvenient option for the applicant.

You can message our team here to see what we can do, and what our fees are (we offer various services for DTV):

oh, which embassy
AdriĆ  ********
@Andrew ****
Vientiane, Laos. An officer pre-check all the documents, you pay and give you a paper to collect the passport in two days. Then, maybe you're declined because they encountered something and they didn't return the money. I saw two people last friday that happened this.
Andrew *****
@AdriĆ  *******
oh that sucks. I thought they would pre-check everything and decline on the spot if documents were wrong. That's sad for them who have paid for it

What is a DTV...? Mommy!

So far, weā€™ve only seen application results from countries like USA, UK, EU, and AU. Bureaucracy in those countries works well, so itā€™s unlikely that applicants who meet the criteria would get rejected because their countries have a strong reputation. What we really need to know is how applications from third-world countries are faring. I haven't seen anyone shared the result from a small or poor country yet.

not with a Thai consulate just like US banks they know if itā€™s a VPN and itā€™s very clear that you cannot apply inside of Thailand

bro acting like Thai consulate knows how to use and track VPNs. fuck outta here

The embassy in Hanoi checked all the documents very thoroughly at the counter while submitting. I donā€™t think she would have let me submit and pay if I hadnā€™t met the criteria the embassy has set, so I think once you get past the front counter and manage to pay itā€™s very unlikely youā€™ll be rejected. If youā€™re missing things or they want additional documents they send you away pre-payment and ask you to submit when youā€™ve got everything in order.
John *******
@Naomi ********
- Embassy in Phnom Penh only quickly looked at the documents when submitting. Luckily, I had no issues. Another person returned to pick up and that is when they asked for additional documents, so kind of slows/delays the process
Naomi *********
@John ******
I guess the experience in each embassy is different :) I can only speak for my experience in Hanoi which was very professional, friendly and straightforward!

Damo ***********
@John *******
sounds like it depends on the discretion of the individual embassy where you are applying for the DTV.
John ********
@Damo **********
Could be something in that. Maybe they would be suspicious if you are a National of the likes of Nigeria, but not if your from a Western country.

Maybe...they asked for a document, we sent it and they must've gone off for a holiday this past week. Nothing.

No
AdriĆ  ********
@Peter ********
Many people in some embassies and consulate are loosing their 10k because the agent pre-check the documents, get the 10k but then in a few days they deny it.
Peter *********
@AdriĆ  *******
do it correct then lol šŸ˜†
AdriĆ  ********
@Peter ********
100% agree with you, but I think that if some people doubt if they can loose their 10k it's because maybe they don't have all the requirements for the visa. So yes, if you don't meet the requirements, you can easily loose 10k
Damo ***********
@AdriĆ  *******
a little bit of self-research should give the person a fairly good indication if they qualify for the DTV or not šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø
