Hello everyone, does someone know if you can exit by a landborder (to Laos for example) if you overstayed 3 years? What would be the process? Just paying the 20k fine and get a overstay/blacklist stamp in passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have overstayed your visa in Thailand for 3 years, you can expect to face significant consequences. The process generally requires you to pay a fine of 20,000 baht and you will receive a 5-year entry ban. Attempting to exit via a land border, such as to Laos, is not advisable; you are more likely to be detained or face additional penalties. Instead, it's recommended to leave through an airport, where you will need to allow ample time to complete the necessary paperwork for your fine and blacklist stamp. There is a possibility of jail time if apprehended by immigration officials, and if you're caught before departure, you may face deportation with a longer ban.
Jim **********
If you own up at border exit, you will cop a 20,000 baht fine and a 5 year ban. If they catch you before you get there, it’s a 20,000 fine, deportation and at least a 10 year ban - you will be jailed for the duration during this process.

You have a fake profile with a picture of a train station, and you're trying to sell a Thai immigration bribery service. Need I say more? no one would accuse your current behavior here of professionalism.

So your marketing approach here is very poor.

People who have the money to use good service would certainly distance themselves from you.

It will probably not be your clientele.

So it can be assumed what a dubious juice store you run.

Or that you are only pretending to be.

Otherwise your appearance here would be better.

It can be assumed that your answer confirms my assumptions.

so as far as you are concern if i have a picture of a diamond factory you will assume me a diamond merchant and would buy good expensive diamonds from me right ??? When are you planning to come to my office???

I know a few people that back in the old days had overstayed for several years. I remember a pal who could go back home without any issues cuz of the 2004tsunami but he decided to stay here. There are a lot of people who got nothing back home and all they hope is just to live here. I believe there are hundreds of thousands foreigners in this country that are currently here illegally

If you go to a boarder they will detain you, lock you up, best to go to the airport, have 20,000 baht and a booked flight, arrive super early to allow time to pay your fine as you go through immigration and get your black stamp in your passport

If you try to come back during ban you will be stopped on arrival due to facial recognition and fingerprints

just a query, as I thought the fine was 500 per day to a maximum of 20,000.

No , crap. I have seen an overstayer of 3 months fork out over 44,000 baht at Ranong boarder crossing. He was shitting himself.
Taz **********
@Chris **********
ok , I only overstayed once due to a lost passport and opting a full passport replacement rather then emergency passport left me with about a 3 month overstay, this was just before they introduced the hefty bans for overstay, fine was 20,000 baht, a flight to KL for 1 night and back into LOS
Chris ***********
@Taz *********
Lucky you. I have seen people charged full kit for everyday overstay.

Taz **********

I forgot to mention that I had a valid visa but it was lost with the passport, when the new passport arrived it was of course empty and no visa to show, I was like coy that my then girlfriend handled the situation well with immigration and made things easier, she explained the situation, kept her cool and spoke politely
Chris ***********
@Taz *********
I was asked if I had a Thai girlfried , Immigration then asked 'what does she do ? I said she yak yak me tookwun tookyung. They laughed so hard, then patted me on the back while passing me through the checkpoint.
Chris ***********
500 baht per day , 1 week = 3500 x 52 weeks = 182,000 x 3 = 546,000 baht.

Ha ha good luck leaving without jail time , even if you have the money. Then banned returning for along time.

You deserve everything you got coming.

I freak out for overstaying a few days during covid because extentions fell on public holidays.

I was jailed, deported and told not to go back for 4 months.

Police have crackdowns and are hard on everyone because of people like you.

Cough up the cash, piss off and don't ever come back.
James ********
Chris ***********
@Chris ***********
I have dealt with immigration for over 10 years and do not exaggerate anything except the fact how poor it is, that a foreigner would not bother to do the right thing by immigration.

Thailand is not his country and he has no right to simply stay for so long without reporting. No wonder immigration go nuts and have big crackdowns.

Who would bother giving him any helpful advice when he is making it difficult for everyone else by annoying immigration so much, that other people who accidently or with good reason overstay a few times by a few days, cop a heavy hand and get deported.
Chris ***********
@James *******

I dont live under a bridge and expect such comments from people.

Overstay 3 years , oh wow ! Really, you sympathise ? People like this really pissoff immigration an piss me off too.

He should fess up and recieve the boot.
Chris ************
@Chris **********
First of all, don't insinuate anything.

I do not sympathize with it.

I am only for clarity without allegations and exaggerations.

The possible intentional confusion of the official fine and possible extortion money is not conducive.

The official payment for this is 500 baht per day up to a maximum of
*****
baht in the normal case, no matter how many days or years more.

The rest you only claim big and wide first.

I am aware of many cases, as I deal with these authorities, who have not paid more as usual.

Spreading exaggerations from hearsay is not helpful.

Stuart *********
You won’t be leaving Thailand via a land border. One they won’t let you out and two no country will let you in unless you’re a national of that country.

You need to fly out. Have the 20k in hand and leave at least 90 minutes to allow for the paperwork to be done, processing of the fine and blacklist notice. Under 3 years 3 year ban over the 3 year limit a 5 year ban.
Chris *****
Stuart anyone who has been in this group more than 5 minutes knows your reputation, expertise and generosity; you've no need to defend yourself here!
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
Ok. So you’re not going to say how long on an overstay. But yet you tell me I’m ignorant. 40 days overstay equals 20,000 baht. 3 years is a different ball game. My comment stands unless you want to say otherwise.
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
Sorry but there is no point going over this. You think I’m ignorant. Your call. Just don’t advise others that that can do such and such when they can’t.
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
Ok so if you have 3 or 20 days overstay it’s not an issue leaving via a land border. Try it with a 3 year overstay and you’ll find things different. More than happy to prove me wrong if you’ve found out otherwise.
Jesse *******
@Stuart ********
again false you state 3 -20 when actually have up to 90 days.. after 90 days it's a 1 year ban and so forth. The fine never exceeds 20,000 and if less then 90 days can pay fine and do another visa .
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
They we’re just made up numbers to say what a typical overstay might be. A 3 year overstay is in a different league. Yes the fine maxes out at 20k but you won’t be leaving via a land border.
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
Good luck trying via land. It ain’t going to happen.
Stuart *********
@Jesse ******
as I asked previously. How long overstay. What passport country?

You will be charged bt20,000, and banned from returning to Thailand for 5 years. If you are picked up by police, or immigration, before you leave you will be arrested, and held until you can afford the plane ticket to your passport country, and until you pay the fine, then banned for 10 years plus the fine. No matter where you exit at you will not be allowed entry back into Thailand at any border, or airport immigration, or trying to enter by sea.

or fake visa agent give you fake ed visa and stamps for 2 years then an attorney extort you to fix and in the end can't fix and you need leave .. Thailand is land of scams and corruption more then 50 percent of visa were not legal ( ed and volunteer ) but you buy from an agent . Thailand can't believe anything you read or hear. Illegal things aloud If pay? Can buy things at any shop like e cigarettes but can go jail. Prostitution is illegal but everywhere. I know a guy that was extorted 30k by hookers police bf.
