I need help. I fu**ed up. I normally have a non working visa OA but because I didn’t understand the roles I ended up with one month tourist visa. I done one visa run and after one month planning again get another month at immigration office. I don’t know what to blame to for this.....but I forgot about what date this was. When checking today I see to my horror that it gone out the 14:th January. What can I do now? Is it to late to get an extra month? Or do I just leave and go back? Will I then get into trouble for missing the date with this much?

Please advise me!

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have overstayed your tourist visa in Thailand, the best course of action is to leave the country as soon as possible. You will need to pay a fine of 500 THB for each day you have overstayed. It's advisable to book a flight out of Thailand, as attempting to leave through a land border may not resolve your overstaying issue. Plan your exit carefully, as it's important to pay the fine in cash at the airport before departing. Additionally, consider applying for a proper visa once you are back in your home country or in a neighboring country.

Okay, face it you're not the first foreigner who forgot to look at their entry stamp and actually see how long they're allowed to be IN thailand, nor are you the first person to overstay either.

AFAIK: you cannot get a 30 day extension at an immigration office with that long of an overstay.

I agree with other posters the safest way out of the country is to show up at the airport, pay your overstay fine (500 baht a day since the 14th of Jan, or 19 days overstay 9500baht) and fly out and back in.

It is NOT the overstay that causes problems, it is getting caught out on overstay on something else while inside the country that will run you off the rails. Remember there is no overstay banning for turning yourself in on an overstay of under 90 days (which is what you do when you show up to fly or stamp out of the country) BUT if you get caught on an overstay of even a single day the law is written so that you can be banned for 5 years.

Good Luck you have your answers,

Now, I don't know if it's true or not but I can remember something, somewhere being posted, that some land borders won't allow you to clear an overstay and send you to an airport.

don't attempt to travel to a land border, follow Robert's advice, book a flight and get out of Kansas as fast as can. Fly to Vietnam, Hongkong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Singapur or whatever. From out of there you can apply for a tourist visa on any of their Thai consulates

you can, after all, fly back to your home country, which is Sweden, and start the whole process for a Non-Imm-O/A longstay visa, again. I guess you are aware of the new rules regarding the health insurance requirement. Well, you still have the option to apply for a 1-year Multi Entry Non-Imm O in your home country before you wing your way to Thailand again. This one doesn't need the health insurance (although it is wise to have one, just not one of these bogus Thai insurances) In Sweden you can apply for this 1-year Non-O ME, but not in Thailands neighbouring countries

Get a ticket to another country and fly out, be aware that the fine is 500 Thb a day and you have to pay in cash at Immigration before you can fly out. Get a proper visa before you come back.

, so first I have to go to Immigration on Monday and pay the fine. Is there not a maximum sum of 10.000 or am I maybe thinking of something else here? So I need to have a ticket out and show it, when I go there. If I come and pay the fine, why should I then not leave the country, if I want to by car. That was what I planned as the border to Malaysia is 4 hours drive away?

road checkpoints towards the border. Even with a nice talk there is nothing to show you are willing to leave the country, when fly out you have a ticket as proof.

Why fly out, and not leave by land?

You're currently on overstay. You can not extend this visa to my knowledge. Your best bet is to leave the country tomorrow and pay the fine. It's 500THB a day. I'm not sure which border would be best because I don't know where you're located or your nationality.

You can leave, and return on a 30 day visa exempt (assuming yu're from a visa exempt country).

You will have to pay a fine on leaving.
