Hello people,

Arranging a Visa run is getting very inconvenient right now, what is the downside (other than the penalty fee) for overstaying? I came in on US passport visa exempt, got 30 days, then I extended another 30 days, and after that I will be here for another 30 at most.

Do you get blacklisted in the system, or be placed on some type of hold status to re-enter the country for a certain amount of time?

Thanks for the time

TLDR : Answer Summary
Overstaying a visa in Thailand can lead to significant penalties beyond just a daily fine of 500 baht. Foreigners who overstay their visa risk being arrested, detained, and may face deportation. Additionally, they can be banned from re-entering Thailand for up to five years. Given the serious consequences, it is strongly advised to avoid overstaying and consider alternative options such as a visa run to legitimize their stay.

We NEVER advocate being on overstay, and we certainly wouldn't advise it because it's "inconvenient" for you to get to the border stamp out and back in to get a new 45 day visa exempt entry stamp ๐Ÿ˜•

You will rack up a 500baht a day fine (so a month overstay is 15K baht) AND (not to scare monger but) if you get caught out in thailand while on overstay you can be arrested, detained, see a judge, deported and banned for 5 years. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Post on a group related to where you stay in thailand and ask about a visa run/border bounce service in your area. Believe me you're not the only foreigner who needs to get to the border stamp out of thailand, stamp in and out of another country and then stamp right back into thailand to get a NEW visa exempt entry stamp
