TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a Thai passport for a Thai citizen is generally straightforward and can typically be handled independently by the individual. Steps generally involve going to a passport office with necessary documentation, such as an ID card, and possibly a few passport-sized photos. Many commenters suggest that these offices are easily accessible in places such as shopping malls (e.g., MBK in Bangkok or Central Festival in Pattaya) and that the process can take as little as three days. Some community members emphasized that if the girlfriend is Thai, she should be able to find the required information online or through local resources without needing assistance, suggesting that the question posed could be seen as unnecessary.
I find it concerning both that your girlfriend can't figure out how to get a passport herself, as she and not you should be familiar with this process, and that you ask in a group that is about everything else but really not that. You (or better: she) should ask Thai people. Not us.
He's coming from the angle that other foreigners will have been through this before with their Thai GFs and are seeking their experiences. I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
Seriously ? She is thai she doesn’t know how to get thai passport ? Just search google where is she living and go to there with money about 1000 baht . Ever easy and you can choose that you will pick up or let them send to you . Search google where she is close
All good thanks everyone . Usual man thing . When I asked her if she had a passport and she said no I jumped into action , of course , didn't even ask her . Now she's arranged it herself . Cheers 😃
go to the passport office with ID and 1000 bahts then follow the steps . if your gf could not figure out that by herself , you should start to wonder !
Give her 5000 baht for the passport, (10 year passport same day service is 3500 baht).
She goes and makes the application, when she comes back she will tell you the money was lost, or her mum got sick and she had to send it to her family.
Repeat the process again. This time she had to pay off a debt or a bill or something.
On the 3rd attempt you go with her to the passport office and pay the money for her passport 🤪🤪🤪
It would seem that it’s very straightforward for your Thai girlfriend to get her Thai passport. The problem would be, should you want her to come and visit you in the UK/US ,Australia, et cetera? That would be a completely different ball game.
My mrs is from si sa ket, she went to the ministry office in ubon filled out everything they asked her, showed a few I'd bits and pieces they asked for and got her passport the following day....
Was she a bar girl or migrant worker? If so, she may have been trafficked or lured under false pretense and not have ID, and therefore cannot get the Thai passport.
Just go to the immigration office and fill out the form. It’s the easiest passport application I’ve ever know. Needs her ID card and a photo. They’ll even give it her on the day if she pays the extra fee.
There are many ways to find out information, and a Facebook forum is one of them. Commonsense tells me that a visa forum is the best place to ask a question about passports as they are directly linked. It makes me wonder why some of you people are in here commenting in the first place if you don't want questions asked about visas and passports.
I respectfully disagree. This group is clearly aimed at Thai visas, and the only nationality that will never get one is Thai. It makes zero sense to ask about how to get a Thai passport in a group with only foreigners. The info she needs is readily available at many places, but not here.
well Thais don't need one to live in their own country that's why she will never get one. The question is about getting a passport for his Thai girlfriend, someone in here may be able to help him with advice. My point was more about the way some were commenting.
apparently some Thai people have said that Robinsons in Petchaburi have a temporary office for passport applications but you will need to check first. Your girlfriend can go to Blueport Immigration in the basement as there is a Thai part to make a new Thai ID card and they should be able to confirm the nearest office.
I do understand your questions as some people have been brought up with very little opportunities and aspirations and never even considered a passport. I find civil servants in Thailand very helpful and as long as you find a passport office they will guide and help her.
Online appointment required ahead of time. She can click on the link below for information on what to bring and the fees, or can call the number on that site.
they flash their wallets to lure in bar girls way above their own aesthetic bandwidth, send pictures home to all their friends about their hot future wife, 30 years their junior, then get butt hurt when they find out the girls have a business to run so they can send home money to their parents and they were nothing more than a paying customer. How clueless can one be?
They probably got rejected by western women then went to Thailand expecting western values. Who are the idiots really? The jaded men who couldn’t get it on in their own countries. The losers!
No offense but is your Thai girlfriend 80+? This is suuuper easy to find information for any non blind Thai woman with a phone. I‘d argue even blind people with an Iphone can figure this out 😅
my wife went to Chiang Mai Monday morning and was in office10 minutes and new passport was in our mail on Wednesday. Easy to do and she received the 10 year passport which is great.
It really makes no sense for you to be involved at all. It would be like you asking your Thai girlfriend to help you get a passport in your own country. All the information you need is very easily available in your own language provided by your own government.
Your girlfriend can very easily do a Google search and/or ask her friends in order to find the information and complete the process. The only help she may need from you is paying the fee.
