Has anyone taken their Thai significant other with them on a Vientiane, Lao visa run? I never have before. My girlfriend has her passport. What else will she need to do? I'm bringing passport photos with me for the bridge and my Lao visa. Should she do the same? Any tips appreciated. We head there next week.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion provides insights on whether a Thai citizen needs a passport or ID card to enter Laos for a visa run. Multiple users confirm that a Thai ID card is sufficient for entry, allowing them to stay for up to three days. Some comments mention that a passport may not even be required, and travelers should ensure they have their ID card ready. The original poster is also seeking advice on whether to bring passport photos, which several commenters imply may not be necessary for her.

They don't even need a passport. Just the Thai ID gets them entry for a few days

I went 3 weeks ago. They just took the passport, no money. That was at the Nong Khai entrance by the sleeper train
