My Thai girlfriend needs to renew her passport.

We are in Bangkok now.

Does anyone know for sure where she needs to go?

Google is confusing with answers.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Bangkok, your Thai girlfriend can renew her passport at several locations, with popular choices including the MBK Passport Office and Chaengwattana. The MBK office, located in Pathumwan, is noted for its convenience, being open every day from 10am to 6pm, though it may have specific closure days in December 2023. Chaengwattana offers expedited services, and recent users reported a quick turnaround. Required documents generally include her old passport and ID card, while passport photos are often taken on-site.

The American Consulate/Embassy in Bangkok.

I think you need to make an appointment online these days.

Been a few years. Got my last one in Yangon, Myanmar.

However, specific for December 2023, the MBK (Pathumwan) Passport Office will be closed on certain days

The advantage of the MBK (PathumWan) Passport Office is that it is open everyday (including Saturdays and Sundays) from 10am to 6pm (10:00–18:00)

We were at MBK the other day and was told you need your old passport, your id card and 2 passport photos.

no you dont need to bring any photos cos they have a camera and will take your photo in there. They were probably confused. Went to mbk myself earlier this yr with nothing but an id card and the expiring passport if you have it

we were told if you didn’t have them they would take them.

Thanks for all the replies.

Very informative and helpful.

She is off to Chaengwattana this morning because she is familiar with that and a bit apprehensive to try a new place

Worked out well for her.

She left early in the morning.

Was back within 3 hours.

They’ll mail it within 5 days to an address we’ll be later this month.

Cost was 1500THB.

Apparently could have had expedited same day service for 3500.

At least that’s how I understand it given our moderately limited language compatibility.

Again thanks to everyone for sincere answers

Thanya Park has an office with same day expedited service, or you can wait a few days and they will mail the passport to you. My wife had hers done there two weeks ago.
