What do I need to know about obtaining a Certificate of Entry (COE) for re-entering Thailand after visiting Australia?

Someone suggested getting a COE (certicate of entry) before leaving Thailand if planning to return. Never heard of it. Iโ€™m flying to Australia on Sunday and will be trying to get back in around August. I am pretty certain I can as I am legally married to a Thai and have (or will have) the necessary documents as required by the Thai Embassy in Australia. Any thoughts on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the need for a Certificate of Entry (COE) to re-enter Thailand after flying to Australia, especially since they're married to a Thai citizen. Responses clarified that a COE cannot be obtained before leaving Thailand and emphasized that the required documentation will depend on their specific visa situation and return arrangements, including potential quarantine measures and booking flight and accommodation. While guidance was provided regarding necessary permits, the user expressed confidence in handling their plans.

depending on what visa extension you are currently on, if it is a long term visa extension that does not expire before August then you might need to get a re-entry permit, so you don't have to start over, if you have a long term visa extension. That is important.

Well youโ€™d need to have your flight and asq booked for your return in august (and who knows what flight options will look like at that time, and if asq will still be required or how long it will be) in order to apply for your COE. So as others stated wait until closer to the time you want to come back. But I wouldnโ€™t leave it too close to get your COE as some embassies take longer then others. In theory it takes as little as a few hours to get the COE up to a week or longer.

That'll be a no, sorry.

You cannot get before you leave the country, hopefully by August may have changed
