Missing my wife & Son so much now.

Does anyone have accurate info on the 2-week quarantine for foreigners? Can we go straight home and quarantine there or do we have to stay in Bangkok at some government building and at what expense, is there any chance this will end on June 1st????

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the uncertainty of returning to Thailand amid ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Users express concerns about the two-week quarantine for foreigners, questioning if it can be completed at home or if government facilities in Bangkok are mandatory. Speculative details regarding potential reopening dates, risk levels associated with different countries, and the challenges of reuniting with family members during this period are shared. The situation remains fluid, with some mentioning travel resuming in June but emphasizing the need for patience and understanding of the government's regulations.

I arrived in the US the 7th of last month. My flight out of Udon Thani was the last one before they shut down. I was then on one of the last flights from the US via Tokyo and luckily to get home. I have a Thai wife and a son who has dual citizenship. My current plan is to wait all of this out at home with no intention of returning to Thailand in the near future. My personal feeling is that the Thai government should treat us a bit different if we have wives or children left behind in Thailand, but that will never happen. Who knows how many hoops we will have to jump through to get back to see our loved ones. We are at the Thai government's mercy, which is not a very good place to be.

depends where you are coming from. i can't see arrivals from western europe / north america being accepted for a long time. if coming in from asia, should be much sooner, but not by the 1st of june.

I can't see them picking and choosing countries. Thai government knows their numbers are bullshit, just like other Asian countries (china) numbers are BS. If everyone quarantines for 14 days, it doesn't matter where you're coming from.

We'll see though

ASEAN countries could be sooner and easier depending on which country. Indonesia and The Philippines are still struggling in some areas, but improving in others.

Only speculation on my part as I am stuck in Indonesia. One might think some sort of opening in June and more later, but expect a quarantine

Flew back to UK from bkk to work offshore yesterday with Qatar and chatting to superintendent said that the Qatar is resuming flights in June from some European destinations to bkk depending on virus cases but not gonna be easy,u will have to prove u r virus clear, heath insurance etc also he said its likely gonna be the long stay visas who will have priority...tourist visas will be last in line

when you say priority...... What do you mean exactly?

For example, if I were to book a ticket online with Qatar, will they ask if I have a long stay visa or do you mean at suvarnabhumi immigration...... If its the latter, how will that work, I'm already there?

They announced the other day China and South Korea as low risk countries. I have a feeling quarantine may depend on that. UK is classed as high risk

No one knows. My guess is that a lot will depend on which country you're coming from and the Covid situation there. Mandatory quarantine in government facility will not be practical. I think some flights and possibly the Laos/Cambodia/Myanmar border may re-open next month.

Not really related, but vietnam has lifted their lock down, just about everything is back to normal there, but have not resumed international flights yet.

So sorry Mark any advice to you now would be pure speculation. My gut instinct from the beginning was this shutdown with the low infection and death rates was a show to improve the image of the country and that it wouldn't be in the governments interest to commit economical suicide in the long run and make this a drawn out thing. Already in one month 10 million out of work so it would be crazy to do so.

Anything is speculation right now, quarantine and dates. One of the rehabs facilities in Thailand posted that they are expecting international flights to resume June 15th, but I'm not sure where they got that from.

I know it's tough, I'm stuck outside too right now, paying for a rental car and a hotel. Just have to he patient.
