Hi, everyone. My thai wife and my self ( aussie ) want to go back to thailand to our home in Surin. What do i need to do to make this happen. Example Visa, flight, insurance and whatever else i may need. We would be flying out of Brisbane, we currently have a credit with thai airway from last April. I hope someone can guide me in the right direction.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To travel back to Thailand with your Thai wife, you'll need to secure a type O visa based on marriage, which requires documents like your marriage certificate and your wife's Thai ID. Be sure to check the Thai embassy's website for specific requirements. You'll need to book flights, including paid accommodations for quarantine, and obtain COVID-19 travel insurance covering at least $100,000. Consider direct flights to avoid potential quarantine in transfer countries. Reach out to the Thai embassy for the latest updates and requirements.

Flying would probably be best. When you arrive you will likely need a visa also.. I would recommend packing a bag, tooth brush clean underwear stuff like that. You can buy those here if needed.

look at Thai embassy in your home country

Good idea. I and my husband playing to going back to Thailand to next year. I from Buriram city but I and

my family leave in Cairns

One thing to keep in mind... if you do NOT have a direct flight, you run the risk of having to be quarantined in a “transfer” country if anyone on your first flight is suspected of having covid, or is tested positive for covid. This quarantine will NOT exempt you from the mandatory quarantine once you arrive in BKK.

In order to get your visa, you will need a copy of your marriage documents, and a copy of your wife's Thai ID card. That will get you a 90 day type O visa based on marriage for entry. You will need flights, and quarantine hotel booking and paid for. You will need covid-19 insurance that covers at least US$100k. Your wife can go into government quarantine for free, but you can't. She can also pay for hotel quarantine to be with you. You will need to meet all the Thai Consulate requirements to get your Certificate of entry, and you will need clearance from the Australian government to leave the country. The consulate will fill you in on what they need.

100% correct , I am about to do the same , but I have a current retirement extension type " O" , so fortunately no visa reqd ...
Kool *******
@John ******
, currently the Thai government is not letting retirement type O extensions back into the country. They are requiring retirees to get a type OA visa, that requires health insurance before being allowed to return. This has not changed yet, and doesn't look like it will anytime soon

@Kool ******
this is the second time you've said this & again I will say your wrong ....I am married to a thai , we are both in Australia ...Contact Anorma at the RTE Canberra , she will tell you that my visa , a Non Imm type " O " with a re-entry permit is permitted ...so before you keep giving people the wrong info contact her ...she sent me the " Pre Approval COE just yesterday ...thanks

@John ******
, then you are one of the very very few that are being allowed back in on a type O retirement extension. Everyone trying the same thing out of Europe has been rejected. The same with the US.
John *******
@Kool ******
yes , I agree , but if you dont believe me go to the RTE canberra website , go to COE for Non thais scroll down to item 6 ..." visa for thai spouses ... it says everything you need to know ... many countries have different requirements ..Europe , UK and USA are understandably on the back foot , and should be

For a start you need to look at the requirements on the website for the embassy closest to you then ask questions.

Search group for insurance

your wife doesnt have to pay for quarantine but you cannot join her. If you want to do quarantine together you both pay.

Read through requirements they are quite straight forward then ask questions if required
