Anyone know what's needed and which Thai embassy is easier to get the 90 days (1st time) and then the subsequent 1 year for the Guardian /Thai Child visa? Between Vientiane and Savannakhet? Any info on the process and which place is easier is greatly appreciated. Thank you guys.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This conversation discusses the requirements and processes for obtaining the Guardian or Thai Child visa at Thai embassies in Laos, specifically comparing the ease of applying at the embassy in Vientiane versus Savannakhet. It is noted that the Vientiane embassy requires an appointment to apply, while Savannakhet allows walk-ins, making it potentially easier for obtaining the initial 90-day Non Immigrant O visa. For the one-year extension of stay, applicants need to visit a local Immigration Office. Additionally, distinctions between the Guardian and Custodian visas are clarified.

Savannakhet doesnt need an appointment. You'll only get the 90 day Non Imm O there, for the 1 year extension of stay(not a visa) you need to apply at your local Immigration Office.

much appreciated, I plan to do exactly that. Go to Savannakhet and get the 90 days and go from there. Thanks.

In Vientiane you need an appointment to apply. Use their website to book.

In Savannakhet you just turn up. Go early. It can get busy.

The “guardian” visa is usually used when referring to being in charge of a foreign child attending an international school.

A “custodian” visa is if you’re a parent of a half Thai child.

There are different financial requirements depending on which one pertains to your circumstances.

I don't know anything about Thai embassies in SE Asia as I've never used one. The best advice I have is to check their websites
