TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the difficulties faced by a person applying for a NON-O married visa at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos. A friend who applied was informed that his documents would take one month for verification due to it being his first application. Other users suggest that the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet might be easier, noting that submissions can be handled quickly if the applicant's spouse can accompany them. There are discussions about potential document issues affecting the verification process at the Vientiane embassy.

HE RESIDE IN LAOS AND HE HAS HIS RESIDENT AND WORK PERMIT IN LOAS . BUT THE ONLY ISSUE IS THE STAFF THAT WORK IN THAILAND EMBASSY IN VIENTIANE RECIEVE THE DOCUMENTS AND TOLD HIM TO WAIT FOR HIS MARRIGE DOCUMENTS VERIFICATION WHICH WILL TAKE ABOUT 1 MONTHS FROM MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS THAILAND. FROM THE DOCUMENTS HE SUBMITTED THE QR CODE FROM MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IS IN THE DOCUMENTS THAT'S MAKE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE WHY IS IT 1 MONTH TO VERIFY THE DOCUMENTS..

Dude shoulda waited for the paperwork f/ MFA or paid an translator/agent to do it for him via POA and send paperwork to him since it sounds like he couldn’t stay in Thailand because he lives/works in Laos.

So he didn't have all of the documents, maybe enter Visa Exempt and go to back to Savannakhet when he has everything after 30 days

Savannakhet is the easiest. Drop off paper work in the morning. Pick up your passport in the afternoon of the next day.

I will mention this. There has been some problems with them asking for your wife to be there with you. The other day, there was a post about this. Some in line were asked some were not. If he is able to have his wife there with him, I suggest he does so. If not, I would have him get his wife to write a letter stating she wants them to give him the multiple entry non-o. Also, have her prepared to receive a call from them to confirm everything.

@Randy *******
I’ve only seen/read about the letter/wife present re the multi-entry.

@เตเต้ *****
Your Wife is not required to be present when applying for a multi-entry Non Imm O based on marriage at Savannakhet.

so as long as I have this letter composed to their “requirements” and her ID/book copies I shouldn’t be expecting anything else re her? Next trip back we’ll have a newborn so her traveling with me is off for a while.

when I was there in March, they asked about the letter. Listening to one of the most knowledgeable persons regarding Thai visas, I had the letter ready for them.

Unfortunately for us, they are very inconsistent with what documents they want. Always be over prepared is my model. Travelling that distance and not having something they require, isn’t something I want to experience.

and they require original documents only
Steve *******
@Harry *********
The only original(and signed copies front and back) they require is the marriage certificate

@Harry *********
incorrect. They take all photocopied documents. I brought all the originals and wasn’t asked to produce them.

@Randy *******
I got told to jog on and was stuck in Laos because I didn’t take original documents

@Harry *********
yes, I understand. What I was saying is they take the photocopied documents. It’s common knowledge that when you’re dealing with visas/extensions you should always have the originals with you. When I was there they didn’t even ask to see my original documents.
