Hi, just wondering if anyone has recently got the 60day tourist visa in Vientiane Laos.
We are planning boarder hop mid Dec, and are thinking of applying for the 60 day tourist visa, yes we do know we get 40 days but the 60 days works well with our scheduled flight home in FEB 2023.
I read on the Royal Thai Embassy Site that you need to make an appointment online, I just tried to do this but it does not appear to be working.
Any tips on the process would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the process of obtaining a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand while in Laos. The individual plans to border hop in mid-December and is exploring options for applying for the visa, despite difficulties making an online appointment at the Royal Thai Embassy. Community responses suggest that the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet may accept walk-ins and issue visas within two days. Additionally, alternatives such as getting a 40-day visa and extending it domestically are suggested, emphasizing that it's possible to extend a visa in Thailand without leaving the country.
you don't need to leave the country to extend. You just need to go to immigration, fill out a form, pay 1800thb and you're good. That's it. Takes a couple hours.
ok. Thanks! Did you have to stay for a longer period of time in Laos, or you returned to Thailand after a few days? I hope it’s not a problem if I return to Thailand after a week or so.
I returned back as soon as my tourist visa approved. But if you have long COViD visa extensions, there maybe subject to ask by immigration officer sometimes.
I’m on a tourist visa (3months in total with an extension). I’m not sure if I should plan to stay in Laos for at least 10 days or return after a few days.
That would be ideal but if you have only 90 days tourist visa+ extension, you will be ok, i guess. I have long covid visa extensions and i used agent for border crossing.
