TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a guardian visa in Thailand for a child attending an international nursery, you typically need to apply outside the country at an embassy or consulate with documentation from the school. The application usually involves obtaining a Non O visa based on guardianship. Additionally, applicants must show proof of having at least 500,000 baht in a personal Thai bank account, deposited at least a month before applying. Once the Non O visa is about to expire, an extension can be sought to align it with the child's visa. The exact requirements and processes can vary by immigration office, and it is advised to check requirements at your local office.

if your child has an ED visa you should be OK. If they don't have the ED visa yet then you won't get a guardian visa

Assuming they have an ED visa go to your local immigration office and ask them for the requirements. They vary slightly from office to office but all are going to require 500k baht in a Thai bank in your name

You won’t get one in Thailand. You’ll have to go to a nearby embassy or consulate with paperwork from the school and apply for a Non O visa based on being a guardian. When that visa is winding down, you apply for an extension which will match the date of your child’s visa. You will need 500,000 baht in an a Thai bank account in your name only, deposited at least one month before applying. For the following years you’ll need that amount in the bank at least 3 months before applying.

thanks a lot for this info! For the first time application you also need that cash in bank? Or only starting from when you apply for an extension?

You’ll need to check with the requirements of the embassy or consulate you’re going to.
