Can I apply for a visa extension shortly before my current visa expires if I use the 400k method for seasoning funds?

Hi,

I am currently on an extension of stay based on marriage. I secured it using the banked 400k method. It looks like I’ve left it kind of late to transfer the 400k for my next extension since my current one expires on 9th June and I know the money needs 2 months to season.

Assuming all my paperwork is in perfect order and I make the 400k transfer in the next few days, would it be possible to make my application in the final few days before my current stay expires?

If not, would it be possible to extend a month to ‘visit Thai family’ and then apply for another extension without having to leave Thailand?

I’m really hoping one of these is an option. Thanks in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a visa extension in Thailand based on their marriage, utilizing the 400k bank transfer method for seasoning funds. They are concerned about the timing since their current extension expires on June 9 and the funds need 2 months to season. Comments advise that they must transfer the 400k by April 9 to apply in time, or alternatively, they can consider a 60-day visit visa to allow for the funds to season.

Keep in mind too that over the next couple of weeks the immigration offices are going to be closed more than they're open, so plan accordingly

With your current extension expiring on June 9th the last day you could apply for a new extension AND have the money seasoned the 2 months would be April 9th.

So get the money in before then OR you'll have to get a 60 day visit thai family or a 60 day covid extension to buy you time to season the funds.

is that 60 day extension for Thai family a one off..? I had to use that 60 day extension once before, after a bad accident that left me short of funds.. my present visa expires 27 of May.. I have the required funds now, but not a lot to spare if I have any major dramas... cheers

60 days family extension is once per entry on the original visa...

there is nothing stopping you applying right up until the day your current extension ends, it's just you're cutting it close in case you are missing a document
