British passport holder married to thai national living ubon ratchathani.

Today applied for the 60 day covid extension and was informed by the IO that this would be the last extention unless I bank 400,000 baht etc etc which at the moment low on funds.

Anyone else in this predicament ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British passport holder married to a Thai national in Ubon Ratchathani applied for a 60-day COVID extension but was informed that this would be the last extension unless they maintain 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account. Commenters confirmed the financial requirement and mentioned the imminent expiration of the COVID extension rule, urging the user to prepare for a yearly extension.

very good.

The 400,000 Thai baht needed for the one year extension only needs to be deposited 2 months before application and 1 month after.

No minimum balance required other months during the year.

Only top it back up to 400,000 again 2 months prior to next years extension.

It is 400k thai baht or 40k per month showing on bank statements

to get a year extension it's TWELVE MONTHS of a minimum of 40K baht a month being transferred into the country into a thai bank account in your own name

sounds about right.

The rule to get a 60 day covid extension expires on Friday Jan 29 <- meaning that's when you can't get them any more.

All you can do is try to get the financial requirements met (400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months) so you can get a year extension OR see whether the thai government extends the ability to get 60 day covid extension.

BUT

At this time, you need to think of this extension you just applied for as your last one and start planning for your yearly extension. :(
