Hello everyone!

Just coming back from CW with my 2 months covid extension(there is no under consideration stamp this time). Officer told me and my wife that i already got many extensions. For that reason, I can't get covid extension again and i need to get 1 year marriage visa (showing 400K baht in bank accaunt) or i need to leave the country before my extension ends and re enter with another visa. Is there anyone has been told same thing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience at immigration regarding the COVID visa extension process, where they were informed they could no longer receive extensions due to previous ones granted. The officer suggested applying for a one-year marriage visa, which requires evidence of 400,000 baht held in a Thai bank account for two months, or leaving the country and re-entering with a different visa. Other commenters shared similar experiences and provided insights on extension options, bank requirements, and immigration office practices.

I'm shutting this down:

1. The online system is not working for MTT and CW, you have to walk in. MTT is taking 300 people a day, and CW is processing extension when there are 3 business days or less.

2. The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 are optional. This means that the immigration officer has the right to reject the application. I have seen no situations yet where they give a person a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp, however I have seen lots of reports of verbal rejects.

3. In some cases the immigration office is granting an under consideration stamp, sometimes they aren't.

My husband and I got asked to show the booking of the flight to leave Thailand when we went for this Covid extension on 14 July, as we didn't meet the requirement for a year extension based on married to me (Thai wife). He got the under consideration stamp and has to go back to CW on the 29th.

would he still have the option for the 60-days "family visit" extension, or did he use it up as well, yet? That would give him time to find a solution 400,000 THB banking wise

Assuming he did not use the 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family, he would still have that as an option

The up side is they actually issued you another covid extension rather than BUT it sure would be nice if these offices would telegraph to people they were going to start getting all hard ass about it rather than springing it on people when they show up for an extension which has been pretty easy to get up to now :(

I am totally sympathetic towards people who are running into these situations and wish everyone good luck with it

Hi,
@Tod ********
, do you have booking QR quote? Thanks

Remember using banked money method for a year extension based on marriage you need to have the 400k baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension. ..

I’m curious too… do you have anything unusual stamped on the passport as well?

Thank you for your answers.

well,
@Con***
certainly you can see being here more than a year when you entered on a visa based on marriage MIGHT make them wonder why you aren't getting a marriage extension and you can see their reasoning in trying to 'encourage' you to get one.

Good luck with it. ..

We're seeing more reports on it BUT they appear to come from people who have a viable visa/extension option available but were taking covid extensions rather than going for the longer term extension by meeting the requirements.

Yes. They are telling everyone I know of at Samut Prakan immigration the same thing with regards to married people.
