Hi Guys,

Coming in on July 25 (Thursday) on Visa Exempt stamp and departing on August 24 (Saturday). Does that make me 1 day overstay and will it be an issue or just a 1 day fine?

I didn't count so well :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Thailand on July 25 and depart on August 24, you will stay for a total of 31 days, which means you will be one day overstay. However, travelers in this situation typically do not face fines if they overstay by less than 24 hours. Upon departing, you may be directed to a separate immigration desk where the usual fine is waived, and a note is placed in your passport stating the overstay was under 24 hours.

When you fly out on an overstay of under 24 hours you don't get fined for it, and you only get a stamp in your passport in thai saying overstay under 24 hours fine waived.

You'll be okay..

You're not the first person to have miscounted the days in Thailand.

Your arrival Day counts as DAY #1

So you will be in Thailand for 31 days.

When you pass thru Thai Immigration on departure, you will be directed to another Thai Immigration Officer desk. Where they will stamp you out of Thailand and waive the usual 500 Thai baht fee as you are Only on OVERSTAY one day.

If your departure flight is after midnight..i.e 2 am ...in the early morning hours, then if you clear Thai Immigration before midnight you are not on OVERSTAY.

Thanks James. I realised what I had done when I was planning my dates for my next trip in November. I'll make sure to get those dates right.
