TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler arriving in Thailand with a 45-day visa exemption can extend their stay by applying for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office. Required documents include a passport with copies of the data page, the admission stamp, the departure card, and the TM30 form from the accommodation. The fee is 1,900 THB, and passport photos are needed. If looking for a longer stay, options like enrolling in an educational program for an Educational Visa or applying for a possible COVID-19 extension could be considered.

Each immigration office has their own requirements. For a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism most immigration offices need:

Your passport and a copy of:

-the data (picture) page

-the “admitted to “ stamp

- the departure card

- copy of the TM30 filed at your location

- 2x passport pictures

-1,900 THB

You will need the forms, which can be found at the local immigration office

Visa exempt can be extended for an additional 30 days easily.

If you want to stay long many people switch to ED visa... Or the covid extension if available.

You cannot apply for a tourist visa once you're already here.

You're on "visa exempt" right now, which is 45 days. This is eligible for an additional 30 day extension, bringing you to 75 days total.

If you want to stay longer than that, you have some options.

First, the "unable to travel due to Covid" extension program currently ends at the end of this month, but it may be extended as it has been many times. If it is extended, you will likely be able to apply for this and get an additional 60 days. You can theoretically keep doing this until the program ends.

You could also enroll in a Thai language program at a reputable language school. In return for paying for your courses and attending them, you'll be given an Educational Visa which will allow you through multiple renewals to stay up to 12 months as long as you continue studying.
