TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to travel to Pattaya from the UK for 8 days longer than the 30-day visa allowance and seeks advice on the easiest procedure to extend their stay. Several options are discussed in the comments: applying for an e-visa online for a 60-day stay, paying for an extension at Thai immigration for 1900 THB, using an agent to handle visa applications, or risking overstaying and paying a fine upon departure. There's also advice on securing an onward ticket to avoid issues at the airport.

Why would someone stay 8 days over the 30 day stay you either get 60day tourist visa in UK prior to departure or 30 day extension 1900baht at thai immigration either way why wouldn't one stay that extra 30 days

Apply for e visa online, alternatively you can get an agent to help you sorted

I would have thought my return ticket to the UK would be same as onward ticket Ady.

some airlines don't want to take the risk that someone may get turned away from the border for not having an onward flight within the 30 day visa exempt period (or that of one's visa if short term). This can happen at the airline's expense which is why they can be rather strict about onward flight requirements for someone about to embark on a long distance flight.

Be very carefull I’ve just come back to Thailand without a visa and I’m on an 8 month return ticket I got questioned at london Heathrow and and also at Immagration In Bangkok the way I got around it was buying an onward ticket to Cambodia while I was in the Uk and showed them this at both ends the UK and BKK

What’s the easiest really depends on you, I think it’s easier to apply for the e visa online and after a few days receive the visa in pdf and print then no hassle

You could find it easier to go as you are and pay an agent 4000-5000thb to do the extension for you at immigration but risk questions at the airport when you checkin about how you will exit the country within your 30 days, buying a $12 temporary exit ticket will end the questions.

Or you could pay an agent to do the visa application while you’re in the uk and hand over all your personal info to someone

Or last but not least just turn up and over stay 8 days and pay the 3500b fine at the airport on your departure, not really recommended

As they say upto you.

If you aren't sure about the application procedure there is a very good You Tube video which explains it and the stuff you need to upload etc

Just google Thai visa application and scroll down you'll find it

Lasts about 11 minutes.Very informative, and tells you exactly what pictures and information you need to upload via a jpeg picture etc

30 days extension for 1900 bht

If you don't want to waste a day going to immigration and applying for an extension then apply for the evisa online now. It should be issued in a few days and you just print it and hand it over with your passport and get 60 days in Thailand.

The E/Visa can be nerve racking, applied 5-6 weeks ahead of departure and after numerous emails/phone calls (being told it’s in process do not call again/No response to emails.1 final call 3 days prior to departure,an Embassy employee was polite enough to say let me check for you,she came back on the phone and said it had been approved 3 weeks ago and was sitting in the email system and the person responsible had neglected to issue it.She said I’ve sent him an email of urgency and I finally received my Visa 48 hrs prior to departure. That is totally inexcusable.I have applied again for my next trip and hopefully the system will live up to its claim of ( 10 to 15 days MAXIMUM)On my flight last year, some travellers had NOT received their E-Visa at all after weeks. Not good enough.Things must improve.JMO.Any other tourist experience d the same frustration?
