TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster seeks advice on the possibility of extending their stay in Thailand beyond the 30 days granted by a visa exemption. They plan to stay for about 34-35 days with a round-trip ticket. Community responses suggest that while it is possible to extend the stay by applying at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht, it's also cautioned that overstaying could result in fines (500 baht per day) and may affect future entries into Thailand. Some advise getting a visa beforehand to avoid complications.
Why not get a SETV from your home country before your visit . Probably a little less expensive plus you won't have to waste ' holiday ' time hanging around the immigration office .
Here’s what happened to me yesterday leaving my home country, Canada with a return trip air ticket. The ticket was for 45 day stay in Thailand. When I tried to get on the plane in Toronto they flagged me as I was trying to board. They asked me for a visa because of the length of my trip. I explained to them I have already purchased a ticket to Laos before the 30 days was up. They didn’t ask to see prof and let me in the plane.
When I filled out the immigration form I put the date I was leaving for Laos as the date of departing Thailand. No questions asked. I’ll get another 30 days when I return from Laos. Good luck to you and enjoy your first trip to this wonderful country. I’m sure you will return again.
I've been here 4 months and don't have a flight out, no problem just ensure you fill out a departure card as they want a copy of that, I lost mine so I need to keep reporting it lost to the police. All good
Yes you can extend IT in Thailand at an immigration office for an other 30 days it cost you 1900 thb ....it is the best, or you just " overstay 5 days but this cost each day 500 so 2500 thb....
And as described before the list, must have copies of your passport , the departure card and the visa stamp as well....and a proper hotel adress
Don’t over stay. It could end up hurting your chances of being allowed back down the road. Just go to immigration office or travel to Laos, Cambodia, etc. I chose leaving for a weekend to Laos. Air travel and accommodations to Laos is cheap.
Ouchyyy for my pocket for tht overstay hehheh! @reiner B..... and yes thats the worst scenario to get caught and get fined for 4~5 days overstay @David Viscuso..thank u guys
