TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on whether an investment portfolio can be used as proof of funds for visa applications in Thailand. The comments suggest that while some embassies might accept investment portfolios, most prefer readily accessible funds in checking or savings accounts. There is also a suggestion to possibly move funds to a cash account at a brokerage for easier access.

Allegedly some accepted it. I wouldn't bet on it though. Try it and tell us what happened.

I have heard yes and no. I may just move mine to the cash account at my broker. I use my broker more than my bank anyways seen as funds are easy to withdraw

Depends on the embassy you are applying at but the majority want to see funds in easily accessible bank accounts like a chequeing or savings.
