Do you need the 500K baht in your bank account for a certain amount of time or is it okay to just be in there for 1-2 months? (Australian)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for holding 500,000 baht in a bank account for a Thai visa can vary significantly depending on the embassy or consulate. Some sources suggest that proof of balance for as little as one day might suffice, while others mention a requirement of up to six months. The situation remains unclear as regulations evolve, and specifics may change based on the location of the application.

It’s unknown right now.

The reality is no one here can actually answer accurately as we don’t know how extensions are going to be processed and if you need to have the money still available. And if they start saying it has to be available, then there is every possibility on entry they could ask the same. So we will find out properly in about 4.5 months 😉

Generally 1 month or even 1 day, except in places such as Laos where it's 3 months.

Canberra embassy seemed fine with proof of balance on 1 day.

you got it through?

proof of balance is an official document from the bank that lists your balance on the specific day. It doesn’t list how / when the money arrived like a statement does. Check your internet banking website if you have this feature. NAB Westpac and others have it.

I don't use NAB but I do have an account so I just went and had a look and that's perfect. The requirement only says financial evidence of the funds so that'll do the job. You've just saved me a long ass wait lol thanks heaps legend. I'm on holiday in TH now so I'll need to wait until to get home to apply I'm pretty sure I've read

Depends which embassy/consulate you are applying with. Some require 1 month, some are 3, some are 6. Best to be specific about location in your question.
