TLDR : Answer Summary
The 500,000 THB requirement for visa applications must be held in a liquid bank account under the applicant's name, not in a brokerage or corporate account. Variability exists based on embassy requirements, as some may accept investment accounts, but it is generally safer to keep these funds in a traditional bank account.

It doesn't have to be in a Thai bank right? Also how long does the $ have to be in there?
Da ****
@Al**
yes no thai bank needed… depends on the embassy you go through. some demand only a current bank account overview… some require bank statements 1 month, 3 month, 6 months…

@Da ***
ok thanks that's easy then. I meant like what about after the visa is approved or when getting an extension?
Da ****
@Al**
no one cares after the visa is approved… but for extension you will most likely have to show a proof again. people will just border run every 180 days

If I fly out and come back which is what I plan to do, is it the same as a border run? I'll just get a stamp for another 180 days?
Da ****
@Al**
yes you will just get another 180 day stamp. people have done that already and no problem at all

Been well covered. Has to be in a liquid bank account. And the applicants name must be on it. Not a corporate or business account

@Dara ***
Vietnam is asking for 6 months of statements now, very recent posts confirm this. Also depending on the applicant 6mths booked accommodation. Vietnam is tightening up on approvals.
