TLDR : Answer Summary
The duration for which the 500k baht needs to be in your bank account before applying for a Thai visa varies by embassy. Some applicants have found embassies in Western countries accept a balance that is deposited right before applying, while others may require that the funds be held for 1 to 6 months. Specific cases mention requirements such as keeping the funds steady for 3 months or having a 2-month hold, depending on the embassy. It is crucial to check the specific requirements of the embassy you are applying to.

I called Chicago and they said it has to be in for 2 months. That was their criteria.

Vientiane, but I didn’t have so that I showed another account too. Then, I got the visa.

Depends on the embassy you are applying at. Research using group search tool for your preferred embassy name. Typically embassies in the western world are happy with virtually same day balance, but most others want to see it in the bank for from 3-6 months

Some say, some don’t. I would say, use the search option on this page with the name of the embassy.

I applied through Washington DC and I had deposited it a few days before applying. That was in August last year.

I’ll be applying at the Washington embassy as well. How long did it take you to receive your visa?

It was a few weeks if I remember correctly. I think three weeks for mine, three weeks for my husband and daughters dependent applications.

Check embassy(of the one you are applying from) website.

There is no solid answer as different embassies added their own requirements Some are happy with "its in a bank now" and others want anywhere from 1 to 6 months. Best to check with wherever you are planning on applying. And be aware lots of people will give you lots of differing answers depending on their experience
