TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling within Thailand and returning to your original location, most local immigration offices do not require you to submit a new TM30 form. However, this can vary by location, so it's recommended to consult with your local immigration office for specific policies. During the pandemic, the TM30 re-registration requirement was relaxed, applying mainly to international arrivals or changes in residency.

It's a real pain if as me and my partner do travel often in Thailand....I can understand it if you leave the country but not when you are just traveling in Thailand and live here on a retirement visa...Were moving to live in the Khon Kaen area does anyone know what immigration there rules are on this ?
no. you don't have to. they have removed that policy during pandemic. you only required to do your TM30 whenever you arrived Thailand from international flight or whenever you change your residency.
The hotel in Bangkok will or won't file one whether you like it or not. Whether you need to do one when you return north is down to your local immigration office.
Your passport number is on your driving license and the immigration system that hotels use have standard screen input - so doesnt avoid TM30 updates - when i did my last visa renewal in Sept they flagged a stay I made hua Hin - and I had to update my address before they would proceed daft if you live here but TIT
Passport number is not always on driving license. It depends. But probably majority of foreigners will be passport number. But can also be the Thai id number.
Farang driving license includes passport number and I have been using my DL for domestic travel for past 5 years - I understand airlines are now starting to revert to requesting passports for checkin for Domestic travel haven’t tried so can’t confirm this.
that’s interesting I travel loads in many hotels have a tm 30 address in house I have full time but always used my passport uk been doing tm30 on line always ok on home address 🤷🏻♂️ have wondered about this
You need to ask your local immigration office what their policy is. Most do not require a new TM30 if you travel within Thailand and return home, but some do.
don't need to do any TM30 again even if you leave Thailand. Now you have to do it as soon as you return from outside the company. Caught a lot of people out and they got fined.
interesting - Phuket was fine for 3 years then late last year they went back to demanding it when you did visa renewal - maybe they just want to push up agent revenue 🤔
