TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers entering Thailand on a Non-O retirement visa with a one-way ticket generally do not need to present an onward travel ticket. Several commenters have confirmed that they faced no issues at immigration when arriving under similar circumstances. However, it is recommended to check airline policies, as some airlines might require proof of onward travel. In cases of uncertainty, purchasing a temporary onward ticket online could provide peace of mind, even though it may not be needed for entry.

I came in on an non O visa. In October, but I was told better to be safe than sorry because some flights I'm more stricted than others. For sixteen pounds, I booked an onward flight they tend to reserve the seat for you. But it cancels out.
After you arrive was worth it, as I was asked at the desk for the fly out of thailand
Kim Nielsen Kim I've had Bkk bank account for 3 years now never had an issue with it. I will transfer to it on successful completion of e visa application so that it's seasoned for the two months as per immigration rules
For my own peace of mind I booked a temporary onward ticket via a site called "Onward Ticket", at a cost of £11 which was valid for a week and then automatically cancelled ". As it turned out no one checked or asked me at any point in my journey but at least I had a joker to play if needed 😉
I believe that at passport control in Thailand, you might not have any issues. However, you might have an issue with Emirates, as per their policy on flights into Thailand on a one-way ticket.
Therefore, you’ll be better off checking in with them as well.
Marcel Sawyer i advise to check in early . if they require an onward flight out of Thailand, just buy a cheap $50 flight. you might be wasting $ 50 , but it gets you to Thailand.
Marcel Sawyer I came in on Emirates on the 4th. The agent asked about onward travel, I only had the one way ticket. She advised that the airline will not be responsible if I get to BKK and immigration don’t let me in. I had no problems with immigration. I came in visa exempt just my passport. You’ll be fine.
