Do I need to apply for a new TM30 after leaving and re-entering Thailand?

My TM 30 says it's valid till 2026 Feb. If I leave Thailand and re-enter next week, do I need to apply for a new TN30?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 itself does not have an expiry date, but requirements for filing a new one can depend on local immigration office policies. Generally, when you leave Thailand and return, you often need to submit a new TM30 form especially if you have changed your residence or are reporting from a different location. Some offices, like in Jomtien, may not require a new TM30 if returning to the same address, while others, such as in Chiang Mai or Bangkok, typically require it for every re-entry. Additionally, the 90-day reporting must be adhered to, which can sometimes be done online after your first return.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

TM30 should be filed within 24 hours of taking up residence in a private house or hotel etc. The property owner is responsible for doing it and it has no expiry date. Some immigration Offices require a new tm30 to be filed with them on returning from an in country trip while some don't. It can be done on line.

The 90 day report tm47 has an expiry date exactly 90 days from the date you entered Thailand or received a visa extension. If you leave the country within the 90 days it re sets when you come back. It can also be done on line but will be rejected if your tm30 is not up to date.

I hope that explains it. For the finer details ask at your local immigration office.

From an in-country trip you always need a new TM30 because the TM30 reported during your trip invalidates the previous one.

The 90 day report should be done within the specified period around 90 days after you entered and expires itself after 90 days again, and gives you the possibility to report around that expiry date again.

It can only be done online after the first one of the stay done in person, which means most DTV holders never will get that possibility.

There's no expiry date on a TM30. What are you talking about?

There can be an end date of reported stay, it is optional to fill when you report, but that indeed is not a real expiry date.

There's no expiry date on a TM30. That's why often people get caught out if they've stayed a night or two at a hotel and then return to their home address and not submit a new TM30. Thd previous address stays on the record. A few years ago I stayed in Phuket for three nights. When I went to do my extension six months later in Bangkok, they told me I was registered in Phuket. The only thing which "expires" a TM30, is a new TM30

You're meant to get a new one every time you come back into Thailand

Every time you leave and return you have to put in your TM30

Also in Bangkok you have to show up for your 90 day report on the first one after you return to country…after that you can do it online

This is every-time

The "after that" is only when you did first TM47 too soon, or do in country extension. Otherwise you only will do first TM47 every time you enter on a new 180 day stamp.

TM30s don't have a real validity date, there is a proposed length of stay at the accomodation when filed and that might be the date that you see. Every valid tm30 is invalidated by your next filed TM30

Anonieme deelnemer 689 Officially you need to be reported by the hotel owner/landlord every time again after you did stay a night somewhere else.

Some immigration offices make an exception in case you stayed outside the country and return to the same address before you left, but this does not look like an official rule.

tm30 is required to complete 90 days reporting

Anonymous participant 689 Yes, that is correct, but the 90 day reporting is the TM47. TM30 is a prerequisite for filling out the TM47, they are not the same.

Depends on what office

It can depend on which office if you are returning to same address. For example in Jomtien no need to update TM30 but in Chiang Mai it must be done - "This is Thailand" :-)

There is no need to submit a new TM30 in Jomtien if exiting Thailand and then returning to the same address?

They changed their mind a couple of times. I submitted new one in October 2023 and accepted. I went to do it again in Feb 2024 and sent away saying no need. Never did it again and never brought up or an issue at 90 day reports. Chiang Mai agent does it for me day after I arrive back as they want it here
