I just found out something yesterday. You have to report to immigration where your staying even on a 30 day holiday.

If you stay at a resort all the time then the hotel records your stay so dont have to do anything. But if like me I'm staying at our home the landlord or my wife has to give you a TM30 or register that your staying there.
Answer summary
In Thailand, even short-term visitors (like those on a 30-day holiday) are subject to TM30 reporting requirements. If you are staying in private accommodation, either your landlord or spouse must report your stay to immigration within 24 hours using the TM30 form. If you are at a hotel or resort, the establishment typically handles this reporting. For those not engaging with immigration services (like extending a visa), TM30 compliance may not be critical, and fines only apply if these rules are ignored and one visits immigration.

What doesn't click for me: if it is the responsibility of the landlord /hotel why should they blame myself (at immigration)?

It then has nothing to do with me, so they can not fine me.

Non, pas besoin de se présenter à l'immigration c'est le logeur qui doit déclarer votre présence...

Yeah personally I think it’s crazy how the government wants to know where you are

I understand if you’re on a long term visa but for tourists

Not sure if any other countries impose this policy??

Just ask the landlord to register to the online reporting system and do it when ever you arrive, if you want to comply with the law. It’s free and takes 10 mins to register and 2 mins to report whenever you arrive.

555, you only need a tm30 if you do anything at immigration. Technically you need one but if you never go to immigration then you don't really need it.

yes, the wife must report your stay within 24 hours of arrival, visa type not relevant.

My local immi office in Mukdahan helped us set up the house for lodging the TM30, using my email etc. Now when I arrive I jump on the PC and lodge the TM30.

Any sort of proper paid accommodation like a hotel, they should do it. Staying with friends family then they have to do it. Whoever your staying with can do it online it is quick and simple for them to register. I believe you can even do it online yourself but cannot confirm as my wife does mine.

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't quite understand this, and I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong. I fill out the digital form as a tourist when I visit and put the address of my condominium. I usually don't stay longer than thirty days. Is that correct? Or do I have to fill out the MT30 form because I'm not staying in a hotel? This is the first time I've heard of it.

Alejandro Garcia Serrano Does your complex have a Juristic Office, generally they do all of the reporting.

John Villinger Sorry if the translation isn't perfect; I use a translator. The condominium is my property, so it's only on record that I'm there because that's the address I put on the TDAC form. So nobody's going to report that I'm there, would I have to report it myself? Thank you very much.
Brandon ************
Brandon ************
@Alejandro ****************
legally you are required to file a TM30 within 24 hours of arriving at your condo or you must file within 24 hours of any other foreigner arriving and staying there.

Realistically if you're only staying for 30 days and don't need to go to the immigration office for anything, you don't need to worry about it. The only time a TM30 is needed is when you're trying to do something with immigration.

I don't usually stay longer than 30 days, or 30 at the most, but we like to do everything properly. The condo is my property, so would I have to notify them myself? That's my question now. Thank you very much.

Yes, you can register online as the owner and do a TM30 in about 30-60 seconds once you are registered.

Never done that and did not have a problem. The hotel should normally report even if just one night. But never did it when at a private stay. This for more than 30 years.

Mp Shsen you are stupid, if you are invited to stay to a private place more than one night, you have to be declared by the owner of the place. If not you will be fined from 2500thb to....a big amount if its a long time...Thats the law !
Tore *********
Tore *********
Bernard Rouhaud its not lol. You wont be fined a single baht.

Its a requirement for the hotel or whoever is hosting you. For a tourist that doesn’t need to do extension, 90 day report or any other interaction with immigration office it has zero consequences for anyone.

Hotels do it without you even knowing.

Don’t call people stupid when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

3 I visited quite a few times before I learnt that one. Ended up in a spot of bother on that very issue while getting my Thai drivers license in Khon Kaen. That was back in 2016 and the bent Immigration Officer wanted 5,000 off me until our senior police friend intervened whereupon I paid the correct fine of 1,600 (at that time). After that I got my licences OK.

Firstly, if you need any service from Immigration, you have to have a valid TM30, your last address. 95% of travellers do not need that and can ignore TM30 (not even know it exists) whether their hotels or wherever they stay submit it or not.

Secondly, if you have Thai ID (Pink ID) based on Yellow book, nobody will change (like hotels, AirBnB) your address and no new TM30 is needed, ever, unless you move house to another address. The same TM30 is valid for years, decades, life time.
Gene *********
Gene *********
Jim Davis immigration told me the same. If I have pink card and have same address I don't need tm30
Jimmy *********
Jimmy *********
Jim Davis how does having the pink card mean that you don't need to do the TM30 then?
Jim *******
Jim *******
Jimmy Tuffrey The Pink Card is based on the Yellow Book which is your address.

The initial TM30 is needed. Then, unless you sell and move to another address, no need for TM30.

With the Pink Card, hotels and other accommodation establishments will not submit their TM30 (and not override your existing TM30).

If you are on a tourist Visa it has no relevance

It’s what the landlord / hotel / BNB etc are required to do

It comes into play for you

If you are doing a 30 day extension after the 60 days

Yes, you must register your address with Thai immigration, but this is usually handled by your accommodation. Under the TM30 law, owners or managers of hotels, guesthouses, or rental properties must report a foreigner’s stay within 24 hours of arrival. If staying with a friend, they must report your

So I done tm30 , where I am living at my brothers house , got one year extension, so if I choose to go and visit other parts of thailand during my retirment here , do I have to do TM30 at every hotel I stay ???? Or is it up to the hotel to do it ??

only the hotels that take your passport are likely to report as they are required to and can get fined for not...however, many people simply have the wife or companion sign for the room thus skipping the whole passport thing...whenever we go out of the province for a night or two I just pop in to immigration down the street when I return...no TM30...I just say hey guys we went to the or that place for a couple nights....they say thanks and that's the end of it...out of country with a re-entry is different of course and a long stay at a nice hotel we still check in with immigration even though the hotel would have done it...so we never really fill out a tm30 for travel..

If you're only here for 30 days, not even worth worrying about. The ONLY time you'll ever need a TM30 is if you have interaction with an immigration office. If you're applying for an extension of stay over the 60 days you will need one, otherwise it doesn't mean a thing

Alan Turnbull You cannot do a 90 day report unless there is an up to date TM30. These are automatically done for you by hotels and resorts. The only problem occurs when you stay in private property and the property owner does not do the TM30 report.

Thats true however dont get too worried. This is needed if you are looking to extend your stay from 60 days visa exempt via immigration or you are looking to do your 90 day reporting. So yes you should register as soon as you can but I'm pretty sure many wont because they either dont know about it or assume the hotel/airbnb that they are staying at have already completed the documents

If you are not going to have any dealings with immigration within Thailand (not including when you are leaving) this is unlikely to cause you an issue. Even if it did it is a 2000 Baht fine.
