How does the 90-day reporting requirement work for multiple entry retirement visa holders in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
So I have now got my retirement visa and a multiple entry stamp valid until Jan 26, 2026. I went back to the UK Dec 28 (before my 1st 90 day reporting was due) and I asked the Thai lady at the bio passport check did I need to get the passport stamped instead of using the bio system to show I was leaving. She said no it is now all recorded electronically. My question is if left before my 1st 90 days was completed and I'm due back in Feb 28 does the clock start ticking again from that date for next 90 days... correct or not? and if so and I intend to visit UK before the 90 day limit each time do I need to report to immigration at all, also if I go for a holiday to a neighbouring country and use the biometric passport check at the boarder each time will I be ok🤷

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual's question about whether the 90-day reporting period resets after leaving Thailand before the first reporting date is clarified by the community. It is confirmed that the 90-day reporting requirement does not apply if the individual hasn't remained in Thailand for the entire 90 days; thus, each return resets the reporting countdown to day one. Regular trips outside Thailand can eliminate the need for 90-day reports if one leaves before hitting the 90-day mark.

If your here 90 days you report if not there’s no reporting

But you have to physically go to immigration on your return to Thailand?

Really? I called my local office and was told I 'must' visit in person. Maybe I was given the wrong info, or Korat is different.

Each immigration office is different. Your hotel/landlord must file at TM30 report when you arrive or check-in. But as for you physically attending an immigration office, I don't know

if I am site-seeing and stay in 3 different hotels in one week, does each hotel file this TM30?

Every visit to immig restarts the clock whether it’s leaving or an activity at your local immig office such as renewing your visa

The local Immigration Office does not automatically use every visit as a 90 Day Report e.g. purchasing a re-entry permit and not even, as you stated, when you renew your Extension of Stay (not Visa) necessarily. If/when they do they put a new 90 Day Report slip in your passport.

Maybe it’s just Phuket…..

Fresh on time every time on re-entry that’s why it’s good to have multiple entry with it good to go

90 days starts from the day you back, everytime you re-enter

You could never need to carryout a 90 day report if you are always out of the country before the 90days are up

I have friends who never 90 day report, as they regularly go overseas

If you don't stay in Thailand the 90 days you don't do a 90 day report and when you enter Thailand again the day you arrive is day 1 towards your 90 day report.

The clock doesn't start ticking again, it starts over completely.
