TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for medical insurance when applying for a Non-O visa outside of Thailand can vary depending on the embassy. Generally, there is no specific insurance requirement for a Non-O visa. However, some embassies, like those in Malaysia and London, may require a minimum of 90 days of health insurance coverage, especially for applicants over 50. The applicant is advised to check the specific requirements of their embassy or consulate.

Thanks everyone for the input. The Thai Embassy said by email that I need one year of insurance. It's a mute point now since I couldn't get the criminal background check completed in time in BKK (must go in person unless you use an agent, and I'm in CM).

90 days.

London Embassy requires US$

0 cover that includes Covid cover for the Non O for ‘Over 50’. No insurance requirements are listed for the Non O for ‘Visiting Family’.

You’ll need to check the requirements from the Embassy you will deal with.

I didn't know that (only got a Non-O marriage) 👍

If your embassy requires insurance it only needs to be for the initial 90 days

just come to Thailand and use an agent much simpler.

At least embassies/consulates in Malaysia require health insurance also for the initial 90 days Non O.

Neither. No insurance required. Only for OA or OX. Still advisable to have health insurance.

A non-O visa has no insurance requirement. Though some embassies may have their own rules requiring 90 days of basic insurance.
