TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of health insurance when applying for a Non-O visa in Thailand largely depends on where the application is made. If applying from within Thailand, health insurance is not needed. However, for applications made outside of Thailand, the rules may vary by consulate. Importantly, the Non-O visa itself does not typically require insurance, while specific variations, like the Non-OA visa (often related to retirement), do mandate insurance and financial requirements.

At the high rate covid time, you also needed an insurance for the non imm. O visa, in your/my home country. Now I don't know and may depend on the Thai Embassy/consulate where you applying as
, that's not a visa. Visa cannot be renewed. I think you mean an extension of stay. And indeed, when you entered before on a non imm O, you still need NO insurrance.

I just renewed my non-O retirement in muang thong, no insurance needed. Let's keep it that way.

Non o-a multi entry needs insurance for the length of your stay but with a well planned border run you can get 2 years out of it (buying 1 year insurance each time) and doesn't require you to keep

when dealing with Thailand, the rules change based on the individual person you are talking to sometimes and you can get a different answer from someone in the same office the next day. Generally if you can find it written somewhere you might be able to argue, but even that means little.
