About 90 days ago I got my "NON-O" retirement visa. I now need to renew it for a 1 year period. The problem is immigration is saying I need to show a 1 year rental agreement. My plans are to travel around thailand staying only a couple of months at one place. Is there any way around this requirement?

I'm in Koh Samui.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a NON-O retirement visa and is seeking to renew it for one year while traveling around Thailand. They encountered a requirement from the immigration office for a one-year rental agreement, which they find unusual, as others report not needing such a document. The conversation reveals differing experiences about this requirement at various immigration offices, particularly in Koh Samui and Krabi. The user plans to consult visa agents for further assistance.

ok from what I understand, you need a rental agreement in koh samui immigration but not sure if it needs to be for any particular amount of time. Can't you ask them ?

Strange requirement. Bangkok doesn't ask for this. Which immigration office are you using?

What office is this? There is no requirement to have a rental contract for a year extension of a Non O.

Don't you need to do a TM30? And in order to do that, you need a rental contract. I had to show mine (Phuket).

OK that’s weird. As stated there is no requirement to have a rental contract for a year’s extension. Perhaps it was a “lost in translation” thing whereby they’re asking about a TM30 filing to show you’re registered in the Samui province. That would be required at many offices for an extension.
