How does renting month-to-month via Airbnb affect my over 50 retirement visa application in Thailand?

Hello, I’ve posted about renting and moving around on another page. It was suggested to rent month to month via Airbnb.

How does that work when applying for the over 50 retirement visa?

Do I stick at one address while application is processing and then start moving around from location to location for a few months at a time. Do I need to sit still and grow roots? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for an over 50 retirement visa while renting month-to-month through platforms like Airbnb can be complicated. Some immigration offices may require a signed lease for 6 or 12 months to process your application or extensions. If you are on a 90-day NON-O visa, you must apply for extensions at the same office that issued the visa, limiting your flexibility to move. However, once you receive a 12-month extension, you can relocate without issue, though you'll need to comply with similar requirements for future extensions.

I did it and didn't have a six month lease, but I was using a visa agent who knew what to do

I’m 100% using an agent and hopefully the one I chose will have the same ability.

It's tricky. Some immigration offices will require a signed lease for 6 or 12 months in order to apply for the retirement visa, or to apply for the 12 month extension.

Also if you apply for the 90 day non-O visa in Thailand, you can ONLY apply for the extension from the same office that issued the visa, you cannot move and apply at a different office.

Once you have the 12 month extension in your passport, you can do whatever you want. You'll just need to meet similar requirement next year when you apply for your next extension.

hum :/ so sit still six month or one year depending on immigration - get 1 year extension do as please - then sit still 6 month to one year etc I guess that’s not so bad.

some offices don't require a lease at all. It might benefit you to create a new post asking if anyone knows an immigration office that doesn't require a lease to apply for 1 year retirement extension.
