I entered Thailand on 5 Feb from Italy with a non-O 3 month visa obtained at the Thai embassy in Rome. I intend to apply for the 1 year non O for retirement in Bangkok (at Chaeng Wattana or any other better suggested location if any). I have opened a bank account and already transeferred well over the required 800k THB for seasoning and I am presently looking for accommodation.

My first question is would a monthly renewed serviced apartment (rather than a rented apartment) be acceptable for Thai Immigration to issue the 1 year visa?

Secondly, where/how can I obtain the best detailed instructions on how to apply (and what dox i need) for the 1 year visa for retirement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on two key aspects of transitioning from a non-O visa to a one-year retirement visa in Thailand. First, they inquire about the acceptability of a monthly renewed serviced apartment for Thai Immigration purposes. Second, they request detailed instructions on the application process for the retirement visa, including required documentation.

The best way to get the detailed instructions on what you need would be to slog on out to Chaengwattana and go to Section L-1 to get the hand out listing exactly the documents, the bank letter, the copies etc you need

BUT

I think someone has already posted a scan of that so let's see what people answer

If you live in Bangkok you use Chaengwattana for a year extension on your 90 day Non-O.

Doesn't make a difference at all but you will need to have a TM30 filed on where ever you live AND if it's a monthly renewal you'll need a letter from them that you're going to stay xxx months, just like people need from hotels when they live there.

Hi Tod, thanks for your kind answer and info.

My intention is to get a multiple re-entry permit and be traveling frequently (leaving Thailand for a month or more, visiting Italy and China where I have families living, but returning regularly and frequently to Thailand) and therefore I would be leaving that hotel after a month or 2, maybe 3, and maybe even change hotel when I come back to Thailand.

So I would in any case not make a commitment with a hotel longer than 1 month at a time.

Just to clarify better, in this case a hotel will issue a letter indicating I will be going to stay XXX months, ie. longer than the months commitment?

Or, would a hotel letter indicating I will be staying with them 1 month (at a time) be sufficient for immigration?

when you live in a hotel, they do the TM30 adress registration for you. So when you apply for the one-year extension based on retirement, and you are currently living under an already registered adress, everything is fine. You can also ask your hotel or the landlord to print out the screenshot of the website where they made the TM30 notification, with your name on it, and put this into your passport
