Hi everyone

Info request - Visa non O retirement (NO MARRIAGE)

I enter Thailand with a Non-O visa (90 days) from Switzerland and during those days I would like to apply for the 1 year non-O retirement with multi-entry without having to have additional insurance. What does it mean that with this visa - Non-O - every 90 days I have to leave Thailand? I ask this because before the pandemic I had an O-A visa and insurance and there I knew I didn't have to go out every 90 days. This makes me confused - as many say the rules have changed and you no longer have to go out every 90 days on a Non-O visa.

Visa application in Phuket town.

I trust your experience and thank you in advance for your kind reply.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on obtaining a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand without marriage, specifically about the need for insurance and the requirement to leave the country every 90 days. Comments confirm that while there is no insurance required for a yearly extension, the user must leave Thailand only on the initial 90-day stay. After applying for the yearly extension, which can be done at the immigration office in Phuket when 30 days or less remain on the 90-day entry stamp, the user will then be subject to 90-day reporting instead of exiting the country.

you are confusing a couple things

There is no insurance required to get a year extension on an O visa AND you would NOT bounce out and back every 90 days once you got the year extension you'd do 90 day reporting

IF you enter the country on a 90 day non-O visa, you can then apply for a yearly extension of stay <-(which is NOT a visa) based on retirement for 1900baht at the immigration office when you have 30 days or less left on that 90 day entry stamp from the Non-O visa you came in on.

NOTE: obviously you can only do this IF you meet the financial requirements ๐Ÿ™‚

That extension is issued on the spot

THEN

after they ink the year extension into your passport

you'd buy a multiple re-entry permit for 3800baht.

really quick recap

the OA visa you show proof of funds in YOUR country (meaning you don't bank any money here

the OA visa is a year-long, unlimited entry visa that gets you stamped in for a year each time (or as long as your mandatory 100K USD health insurance is valid for) during the validity of the visa

Down side, you need police background check, medical certificate, mandatory 100K USD health insurance and you can only get it in your country before you wing your way here

Another benefit is you can get almost 2 years of stay out of that OA visa that's valid for a year (by exiting and re-entering just before the visa itself expires and having a new year of the insurance)

Tod may I ask: if you enter on a 45 tourist visa, then get a Non O Visa whilst in Thailand: is the progression to the retirement extension still the same ?
Lyndon ************
@Russell *******
note, you need to submit your non-o 90 application while you still have 15 plus days remaining on your stamp

@Russell *******
there is no 45 day tourist visa ๐Ÿ™ you'd be entering visa exempt (the free 45 day entry stamp),

You'd get the bank account open, move the funds in and apply for first the 90 day non-O then 2 months later the year extension.

The year extension part is the same whether you come IN on a 90 day Non-O or whether you get one issued inside the country

thats very clear thanks.

Im the land of the blind you are all-seeing !

You are right about Visa exempt

Ill have the funds in my account before I arrive in order to move onto Non O quickly
