Tried to make a 60 day extension (married to a Thai) at koh samui immigration but they wouldn't let me because we don't live here. Going to Bangkok today, will it be possible to do the extension in Bangkok without a rental contract?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user attempted to extend their NON-O visa for 60 days at the Koh Samui immigration office but was denied due to not being a resident there. They plan to try extending it in Bangkok without a rental contract. Comments suggest that extensions are typically granted at the immigration office for the area where one resides, indicating that it may not be possible in Bangkok. A user reported back after trying in Bangkok and confirmed that they were also refused and directed to the Phetchabun immigration office instead.

No chance in Bangkok, they flatly refused telling me that I need to go phetchabun immigration as my wife's tabbieban is from phetchabun and not even a hotel booking was good enough, what's happens if we were traveling around Thailand? Only could go phetchabun for the extension? Thai officials love their tabbiebans!

I thought they'd tell you to get the extension at the immigration office where you live. ;)

The only extensions that can be gotten almost anywhere (as long as you have an address in that zone) are 30 day visa exempt and 60 day tourist visa extensions.

Phetchabun, but I live in the middle of the sticks and it's about a 2 hour drive to the immigration office and we are spending a few nights in Bangkok before we head back home, we arrive in Bangkok at 5am in the morning and we can't check into our hotel till 12 so I thought it might be easier just get the extension out of the way in the morning

Thanks, we are going to try, I've never been asked for proof of residence in Bangkok but that was 2 years ago! Just lazy to do a border run, but if Bangkok is a no no too it will be phetchabun immigration on Monday!

If I had to guess I'd say nope you're not gonna be able to get it in bangkok either, BUT you're out nothing by trying it. I mean the worst they'll do is deny you and not take your paperwork or money.

Where do you actually live in thailand? Most people get those extensions from the immigration office that serves the area where they live

Are you on an Extension of Stay from Immigration or on the actual visa from a Consulate or Embassy and doing 90 day border runs?
