Do I need a TM30 if I'm staying in Thailand for 60 days on a DTV visa and don't require a TM47?

This is my first entry into Thailand using a DTV visa. I plan to stay in Thailand for 60 days and then travel to another country for a week. Since I won't be staying in Thailand for more than 90 days, I don't need to submit a TM47 (90-day report). Even in this case, do I still need to obtain a TM30 from my accommodation? Or, since I don't need a TM47, I don't need a TM30 either?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is mandatory for any foreigner staying at a rental property in Thailand, regardless of the length of stay or whether a TM47 report is needed. Even if your visit is less than 90 days, the accommodation provider is required to submit a TM30 report about your stay within 24 hours of your arrival. If your host refuses to issue a TM30, it is important to ensure that they comply with this responsibility, as it is a requirement under Thai law.

Am I committing a crime because my landlord didn't issue me a TM30? Why can't I issue my own TM30?

I've already booked a condo through Airbnb and paid in full. However, the host is refusing a refund and issuing a TM30. What can I do in this situation? Can I go to immigration on my own and get a TM30?

TM30 is a must for any hotels or condo's/villa's owners from day 1st. However, you don't risk anything as it is not your responsibility. But make sure it is done if you need documents or report for 90 days.

It depends on your personal choice.

The Thai law want you to be reported within 24 hours of arrival at an address in Thailand.

In the old days it was done with a document numbered TM30, in this modern time it is done on-line, yep Immigration use computers and internet.

If you stay 60 days, without calculator is that less than 90 days, so no need to report that you are in Thailand for 90 days.

Two different rules with total different purpose.

Being in Thailand for 90 days has NOTHING to do with address registration.

I booked a place through Airbnb. I was worried that if I didn't report my TM30 upon entering Thailand, I might run into trouble later. So I asked the host for my TM30, but he refused.

Anonymous participant a place is a place, it does not matter how your booked it OR if it is a house, condo, apartment, guesthouse, hotel, girlfriends house, boy friends house, camper, tent or what ever you like to name it.

You arrive and discuss with with the person before you give the rent and gives you the key, who is going to make the registration within 24 hours.

IF they refuse to make the report, you accept it or find another place to stay.

just because you're not doing it, doesn't mean you're following the rules. The TM30 is to be filed every time a foreigner takes up accommodation no matter who owns it. If you ever need services from your local immigration office, welcome to the wake up call.

Are you the owner of the place you live in? Well, if you don't you're legally responsible for not reporting yourself or anyone staying at your place.

Every landowner must submitted tm30 when a foreigner stays there. You don't need to copy you just have to ensure that they file. A TM30 is always necessary.

Anonymous participant change places and report the airbnb, if they refuse its likely an unregistered hotel dodging tax and regulation. Airbnb should give you refund.

익명의 참가자 629 How about booking another hotel for only 2 days and then getting the TM30 issued there?

Anonymous participant Well, it could work but some hotel may refuse to provide it; not a must, the must for them is to report, nothing more nothing less. Ask the hotel before.

I used to work for hotels here.

Anonym deltagareBe aware that tm30 specify numbers of days of stay. Hence there might be questions asked for unaccounted days.
