I got my DTV 5 years yeaaaah💥💥💥

Question: do you have to report to immigration? and if so, do you need to show TM30?

Im staying in different hotels, and find it difficult to get a TM30 for every one of those hotels, it's a hassle. If you stay for just 1 night, do you need a tm30?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When staying in various hotels in Thailand, it's not necessary to worry too much about the TM30 unless you're seeking services from immigration, such as a visa extension or the 90-day report. Each hotel is responsible for submitting a TM30 within 24 hours of your check-in, and as a guest, you should ask for a copy to keep for your records. If you're staying for less than 90 days, you are not required to do anything within your first 90 days; the hotels will register you with immigration automatically. However, if you do stay for 90 consecutive days, you must report to immigration in person using your most recent TM30.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

Just ask for a copy of the TM30 when checking in, that is the easiest for both the hotel and you, and you get a confirmation that they have made the TM30 as aquired by law, every time a foreigner ist staying at their premises.

A small tip, may facilitate the proces.

If you have a DTV you not need too. As you can stay upto 180 days so there is no 90 day reporting

Everybody staying more than 90 days in Thailand has to do 90-days reporting, regardless which visa scheme you entered on.

Don't sweat the TM30 too much, especially if you are travelling around the Kingdom. The odd day here and there will make no difference whatsoever.

When you need ether an extension or a 90 day report make sure you have a TM30 then. TM30 is the responsibility of the owner of the property that you stay to do. Unfortunately there is an anomaly meaning that if it isn't done and you need a service from immigration (visa extension or 90 day report as examples) you are the one who gets a 2,000 Baht fine. So my advice would be when you need to go to immigration make sure you have a TM30. Most hotels will just give you a print out.

I just printed out the code that they sent you in your email. Take that with you to immigration and also take your passport and your boarding pass. That’s all you need. You’re good for multiple reentry unlimited. For the next five years. When you go shopping and use your credit card, bring your passport and of course your Visa card. Very limited places to use American Express.

When you attend immigration you need only the most recent TM30. Any others you might as well roll up and smoke

For the 90 days report you can use the most recent TM30, you don't need all the previous ones (tho each hotel is obligated to file one, yes).

No, you don't have to do anything within the first 90 days, if you're staying in hotels.

The hotels register you as a guest in the immigration database every time you check in to one.

But you have to do a 90 day report if you're staying in the country for 90 consecutive days.

You have to do this in person the first time, which resets every time you enter the country.

this is confusing. up until now I've been staying in hotels, but I will be in the country for 90 consecutive days. does it matter if I stay in a hotel or some kind of "homestay"?

if where youre staying asks for a copy of your passport, or asks for a photo of the page, they are most likely doing your tm.30. every hotel i stayed in and even some "selfcheck in" accommodation asked, and sent me a confirmation of tm.30 lodgement. some have not. so it seemed to be the difference.

hotels do your tm30 for you. If you're staying in a private property, the property owner needs to do the tm30, or you go to immigration and do it yourself.

that makes more sense yes. But what makes sense might not be how things are...

I'm changing hotels a lot, and I already missed a few days. Apparently they can only issue a tm30 for the last 24 hours.

It is only the most recent TM30 you need, not all back to when you arrived in Thailand.

it doesn't matter that you miss a day or two here and there. What's important is that there is a TM30 in place any time you need to interact with immigration. The location given in the TM30 is the immigration office you need to use.

You need to do the 90 days reports. The hotel is responsible to file a tm.30 within 24 hrs after check-in. Most hotels do that online. Just make shure the hotel makes a tm.30 and ask for a copy/screen shot before you go for the 90 days report.

to make sure the hotel filed the tm.30. some hotels or especially Airbnb's don't, even if they are obligated to do so. If there is no valid address registration (tm.30) for you, you won't get anything done at immigration.

A hotel is not always a hotel, ex. not all have hotel licenses, but “only” person that rent out rooms, and those will avoid telling the authorities about foreigners staying at their adress.

never shown a TM30 when doing a 90 day report it's for what. Immagration already know where you are it's in your file and on the form you complete. They don't care anyways

you are in a very small minority then. The vast majority of those of us that stay in Thailand long term need a TM30 with all interactions we have with immigration. By interactions I mean visa extensions, certificates of residence and 90 day reporting.

Which immigration office do you use?

so if you stay multiple days, how do they know how long you stay if they have to give you the tm30 within the first 24 hrs?

e.g. today I checked out after 3 nights and they could only give me a tm30 for the last day. so I don't have the tm30 for the first 2 days

you don't really need one at all until such time as you have to interact with immigration. Basically the TM30 is just the hotel or property owner registering that you are staying there which they are legally obliged to do within 24 hours of your arrival. No problem moving around as each place you stay should register you
