I got my DTV 5 years yeaaaah💥💥💥

Question: do you have to report to immigration? and if so, do you need to show TM30?

Im staying in different hotels, and find it difficult to get a TM30 for every one of those hotels, it's a hassle. If you stay for just 1 night, do you need a tm30?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When staying in hotels in Thailand, you typically do not need to file a TM30 for short stays as hotels register you with immigration. However, for a 90-day report, you will need the most recent TM30 from the hotel you stayed at. If you have a DTV visa, you are allowed to stay for 180 days without needing to report every 90 days, but it's essential to ensure the accommodation files the TM30 to avoid potential fines.

If you have a DTV you not need too. As you can stay upto 180 days so there is no 90 day reporting
John **********
@Maryanne *********
that is wrong. DTV holders are required to report to immigration if they spend 90 consecutive days inside Thailand

Don't sweat the TM30 too much, especially if you are travelling around the Kingdom. The odd day here and there will make no difference whatsoever.

When you need ether an extension or a 90 day report make sure you have a TM30 then. TM30 is the responsibility of the owner of the property that you stay to do. Unfortunately there is an anomaly meaning that if it isn't done and you need a service from immigration (visa extension or 90 day report as examples) you are the one who gets a 2,000 Baht fine. So my advice would be when you need to go to immigration make sure you have a TM30. Most hotels will just give you a print out.

I just printed out the code that they sent you in your email. Take that with you to immigration and also take your passport and your boarding pass. That’s all you need. You’re good for multiple reentry unlimited. For the next five years. When you go shopping and use your credit card, bring your passport and of course your Visa card. Very limited places to use American Express.

boarding pass? they ask for boarding pass when reporting the 90 days?

@Gert ******
no. This guy has no idea what he is talking about and isn’t following the discussion

When you attend immigration you need only the most recent TM30. Any others you might as well roll up and smoke
Elías ********
For the 90 days report you can use the most recent TM30, you don't need all the previous ones (tho each hotel is obligated to file one, yes).
Steve *******
No, you don't have to do anything within the first 90 days, if you're staying in hotels.

The hotels register you as a guest in the immigration database every time you check in to one.

But you have to do a 90 day report if you're staying in the country for 90 consecutive days.

You have to do this in person the first time, which resets every time you enter the country.

this is confusing. up until now I've been staying in hotels, but I will be in the country for 90 consecutive days. does it matter if I stay in a hotel or some kind of "homestay"?
Jeremy ***********
if where youre staying asks for a copy of your passport, or asks for a photo of the page, they are most likely doing your tm.30. every hotel i stayed in and even some "selfcheck in" accommodation asked, and sent me a confirmation of tm.30 lodgement. some have not. so it seemed to be the difference.
Steve *******
@Gert ******
hotels do your tm30 for you. If you're staying in a private property, the property owner needs to do the tm30, or you go to immigration and do it yourself.
Peter *********
Just show your latest tm30 prior to doing 90 day report

that makes more sense yes. But what makes sense might not be how things are...

I'm changing hotels a lot, and I already missed a few days. Apparently they can only issue a tm30 for the last 24 hours.
John **********
@Gert ******
it doesn't matter that you miss a day or two here and there. What's important is that there is a TM30 in place any time you need to interact with immigration. The location given in the TM30 is the immigration office you need to use.

ok. so it's not that strict. Basically my last location will be enough. thanks

Yes on both accounts.

what if you miss a day or two. would that be a problem?

hypothetically, what would happen if you sleep in the street 1 night? 🙂

you wake up w a face tattoo

You need to do the 90 days reports. The hotel is responsible to file a tm.30 within 24 hrs after check-in. Most hotels do that online. Just make shure the hotel makes a tm.30 and ask for a copy/screen shot before you go for the 90 days report.
John *******
@Martin ******
Why? Why get copy or screen shot?
Martin *******
@John ******
to make sure the hotel filed the tm.30. some hotels or especially Airbnb's don't, even if they are obligated to do so. If there is no valid address registration (tm.30) for you, you won't get anything done at immigration.
John *******
@Martin ******
Okay. I’ve never had an issue. Maybe just lucky.

only for your last stay right? not for all of the hotels youve stayed at

David ********
@Martin ******
never shown a TM30 when doing a 90 day report it's for what. Immagration already know where you are it's in your file and on the form you complete. They don't care anyways
Andy ********
@David *******
you are in a very small minority then. The vast majority of those of us that stay in Thailand long term need a TM30 with all interactions we have with immigration. By interactions I mean visa extensions, certificates of residence and 90 day reporting.

Which immigration office do you use?
David ********
@Andy *******
have used many lmmagration offices living here awhile and travel around that's my experience north and south

so if you stay multiple days, how do they know how long you stay if they have to give you the tm30 within the first 24 hrs?

e.g. today I checked out after 3 nights and they could only give me a tm30 for the last day. so I don't have the tm30 for the first 2 days
Martin *******
@Gert ******
see John's reply
John **********
@Gert ******
you don't really need one at all until such time as you have to interact with immigration. Basically the TM30 is just the hotel or property owner registering that you are staying there which they are legally obliged to do within 24 hours of your arrival. No problem moving around as each place you stay should register you
Gert *******

@John *********
ok so i dont need to actually ASK for a copy?
John **********
@Gert ******
you need to have a copy if you're going to immigration
John *******
Yes and yes
Andi ***********
If you stay 90 days consecutively you need to do a report on your stay.
