TLDR : Answer Summary
You can bring cash into Thailand and deposit it into your personal Thai bank account to meet the 400,000 baht requirement for the Non-O visa extension based on marriage. The key requirement is that the money must be in your Thai bank account for a period of two months before applying for the extension. However, be cautious when carrying large sums of cash due to regulations regarding cash limits. A safer option is to arrange a bank transfer directly to your Thai account.

BE VERY CAREFUL about carrying large sums of currency across international borders. There are rules, restrictions and reporting requirements for carrying large sums of cash or negotiable instruments.

.

It is far better to arrange a bank transfer.

good point,
@Γιώ****
check rules in YOUR country about leaving with cash. I know in the US you have declare any amount over 10K USD when you fly out. There is nothing stopping you from bringing money (even large sums) IN to thailand but you should go thru the 'something to declare" line and let them know you're bringing cash in .

Do you have or open Thai bank account already? If you have just put money in account ask for detail from the bank and take your all evidence you have to immigration .

@Dave ******
they said they WILL enter on a non-O visa so once they get here they'll get stamped in for 90 days and they need to get their 400K baht into a thai bank account in his name only quickly because it has to be in there for 2 months before he applies for his extension

SO he just needs to get the money into the account and then when it's in the 2 months update the bank book and get the bank letter compile the rest of the documents and then apply for the yearly extension

I am thinking to ask 60 for visit family and some day before first 90 days finish to but the money. I had a account but they closed because for 2 years didn't do anything. Just I had 500bht to open.

@Γιώ****
you're going to need to get that money INTO A bank account in your name as fast as you can once you get out of quarantine. True you CAN get a 60 day visit family extension BUT remember you can only get one of those per entry so if you didn't have to burn it I wouldn't

ok I understand

If you ENTER the country on a Non-O visa get stamped in for 90 days and then go to apply for a yearly extension based on marriage to a thai there is no proof required that the funds come from abroad. You could bring cash and deposit it in your account on your own if you wanted to

The ONLY requirement is that the 400K baht is in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your yearly extension

I'll be arriving with nonimmigrant Visa OA multiple entry. I understand that if I traveled out of the country and back close to expiration, my visa will be automatically renewed for 1 more year without opening a bank account. Is that correct Tod?
