TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your NON-O visa based on marriage in Thailand, you'll need to prepare several documents. Key requirements include a Thai bank account statement showing 400,000 THB for at least two months prior to applying or proof of monthly income of 40,000 THB from abroad or within Thailand, along with your work permit and tax payments. Additional documents include copies of your Thai marriage certificate, your ID, your wife's ID and blue house book, your passport ID page and visa page, the TM 6 departure card, a map to your house, and photos of you and your wife at home. Your wife must attend the interview, and if it is your first application for extension, witnesses may be requested. The application form TM 7 and a fee of 1,900 THB will also be required.

There are no legal restrictions. I can only think of personal reasons, or just stay inside Thailand and report if you longer than 90 days inside Thailand, but to get this Extension a little bit more documents needed, OR travel each year to a Thai Consulate and apply for new visa and travel every 90 days to a border to activate a new period of stay.

I have a related question. I see people keep asking about extensions of stay and the process seems more complicated than getting the initial visa in HCMC for instance. Is there a legal restriction or some other reason why people don’t just let the visa expire and get a new one?
