Is it advisable to apply for a 90-day O visa after my OA visa expires, considering my situation with income and marriage extension?

I have an OA Visa that expires in January 2027...

I plan to let it expire and then apply for a new 90-day O visa when I'm back at home in the US. (I'm married to a Thai National and intend to apply for the Marraige Extension after I return). When I got the OA I qualified with my monthly income using my Social Security Benefits letter and didn't need to deposit money in a Thai bank. I'm guessing the 90-day O processing is no more difficult and I will qualify again on my income alone. If you have experience or knowledge can you tell me if I'm correct or incorrect?
Answer summary
The user inquires about transitioning from an OA Visa to a 90-day O Visa, planning to apply from the US while intending to later seek a marriage extension based on income. Responses highlight that qualifying for the 90-day O Visa should not be difficult due to previous income qualifications, but caution that for the marriage extension in Thailand, proof of income will necessitate a deposit of 400,000 THB in a Thai bank for two months.

What satisfactory proof of your income did you provide? In what form?

I'm interested in why you would go from the monthly income to marriage visa. All I ever hear is issues of pictures, drop ins, beside keeping the 400 k...the only reason I've heard is a work permit I believe

Qualifying for the visa itself should be no problem based on your income. You will be dealing with the Thai embassy who is much more relaxed about such things.

But once you get to Thailand and will be dealing with immigration for your extension, your income in the US is no longer relevant. You'll be looking at depositing 400,000 in a Thai bank account for a marriage extension, and it will need to be in the account for 2 full months before you can apply for the extension.
