TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion provides insight into obtaining a Non-O visa in Thailand, specifically one based on marriage. Options include applying for a visa at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, with required documents like marriage certificates and the Thai spouse's identification. For an in-country extension, applicants must either maintain a balance of 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for two months or obtain an affidavit confirming a monthly income of at least 40,000 baht.

Like I posted (depending on your nationality) you could go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and get a Non-O either a 90 day single entry or a year-long, multi-entry one.

All you'd need are the marriage certificates, copies of your thai wife's i/d card and her house book listing as far as documentation.

nope, NO proof of financials at all up there.

Like I said if you get that year long one, you'd need to bounce out&in to the country every 90 days but you can get 15 months of stay out of it (17 months really by extending the last 90 day entry by 60 days under the visit family extension) ;)

If you're wanting to get an in-country year long extension based on marriage you have two options.

Bank 400K baht in an account in your name for 2 months before you apply for the extension

OR

get an affidavit of income from abroad from your consulate stating you get 40K baht or more income per month.

my previous non O was supported by the company i was working for (almost 4 years) but they said i cant extend this one as its used and if i want to extend its only 7 days as i cant show the 400k for 2 months in bank account... well not a big deal to go out make a new 90 days then make the extension later, just if someone had a solution for the 400k it would be easier and dont need to leave to make a new one...

why would the immigration office tell you that you can't get an extension of stay based on marriage? What was their reason? Did you not have the financial requirements or what?

you could go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage to a thai.

With that visa you'd have to exit/re-enter the country every 90 days for the year BUT you wouldn't need to show any financial requirements to get it.
