Hi, I am just curious if anyone had experience with the Thai consulate in Penang-Malaysia whether it is possible to apply for a NON-O visa based on marriage and their requirements? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry seeks experiences regarding applying for a NON-O visa based on marriage at the Thai consulate in Penang, Malaysia. Responses indicate that there are not many reports from Penang, but it is believed they issue the NON-O visa for married applicants. It is recommended to check requirements at the Kuala Lumpur consulate, as Penang usually follows the same guidelines. Some suggest considering the Thai embassy in Savannakhet, Laos, which does not require proof of funds in a Thai bank account, making it a preferable option for some applicants.

There are not many reports from Penang so far. They should issue Non-O marriage to a Thai. Check the requirement at KL as Penang usually uses the same requirements as those at Kuala Lumpur.

IF you don't have the 400,000 Thai baht required in a Thai bank account in your name only to get the Non O Visa as Married to Thai and the One year extension of stay as Married to Thai .
DO yourself a favor and go to the Thai Embassy in Savannakhet Laos. They do not require proof of the 400,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only.
At THIS time, Savannakhet is the ONLY Thai Embassy in SE Asia which has no proof of the money in a Thai bank account.
Look at the TOPIC of Savannakhet Thai Embassy
