My 30 day extension on my 60 day TV has cost me 15000 baht, the cost of changing my original return ticket to cover my extension was 13000 baht.
I normally expect around 5000-6000 baht, but it appears I have picked a busy passenger flight that's the reason given.
Correct me if I am wrong but you can't buy a 90 day return on a 60 day TV, due to having to submit flight confirmation and days staying in Thailand on the visa application.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the regulations and practices for obtaining a tourist visa (TV) in Thailand, specifically whether one can purchase a 90-day return ticket when holding a 60-day visa. Several participants share experiences and tips regarding proof of onward travel, mentioning that while some embassies might require a return flight, others accept alternative proof, such as onward bus or train tickets. Suggestions include purchasing cheap onward tickets and experiences with 30-day extensions. It's emphasized that it is unnecessary to have a return flight booked prior to visa application, as most embassies only require proof of leaving Thailand.

I could well be wrong, but I thought you didn’t have to buy a ticket before getting the visa? What happens if they decline your visa? I thought they actually advised you on the website not to purchase a ticket?
If a 90 day stay is likely for most on that Visa....why not simply sell a 90 day visa to begin with. Saves farting around with fake onward tickets & visits to an immigration office.
Just done our visas in london. Flight shows 88 days and visa applied for is 60 days. Never have we had an issue with this since 2001. Even during covid and quarantine when we had to jump through hoops there was never a problem. But I do have a fair bit of money in my bank accounts.
88 days. Just apply early as mine took 6 days and partners took 11. Did it online. They want quite a bit of travel info and copies of bank accounts but I didn't even have my partners bank account so I sent one of mine in and it was accepted.
I used return flights 5 months later to get a 3 month visa. You should ask the consulate where you apply for a visa about this. The Thai consulate in NL accepted it without problems.
It depends on the embassy as some require proof of leaving Thailand and some do not.
None requires a "return" flight, just proof you are leaving Thailand. Some will accept a cheap bus or train ticket, or a cheap ticket to Singapore or Malaysia. Or Google "onward travel ticket" and you can rent an airplane ticket for like $10.
yes but you could buy your 90 day ticket but still get "onward travel" proof for 60 days so you then don't have to pay to change your original, more expensive flight
my last 2 TR60’s I had no issue with a 90 return ticket, this year they wanted a signed letter taking responsibility for any possible overstay expenses. Kind of strange but it worked fine. My 2 priors I had booked cheap flights to KL as my RT was actually over 3 months out which cost me about $40.
