TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is arriving in Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa and plans to stay for a total of 109 days by getting an extension in Korat. They have mentioned their travel plans and that they have a hotel booking. Community responses indicate that while the initial plan may work, they should be prepared with necessary documents and consider visa extension options since entering on a tourist visa typically limits extensions.

I don't know what the O/P is referring to when they ask "do you think I'll be okay" <- I mean okay when they stamp into the country (I'd have the proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of hotel), okay when getting their extension (depending on the office they might need a TM.30 receipt to get one).

If he has an extensive history of living here on visa exempt or tourist visa entries I'd say he should be prepared to be questioned at passport control. Otherwise his plan sounds doable.

You can go to the immigration office with the marriage certificates, your thai wife's i/d card, her house book listing and get a 60 day "visit family" extension on any entry (30 day visa exempt, tourist visa, Non-Immigrant visa) for 1900baht.

Hi Steve, if possible could you point me to some information about this? I actually spent some time researching before making a reply to the post because I do not like getting things wrong, yet I was not able to find anything. Tnx.

If he's married to a Thai, as he states, he can get a 60 day extention on the 60 day SETV giving him 120 days in the country. His problem might be if the airline or Immigration want to see onward travel within the first 60 days.

he doesn't he's gonna get 89 days out of a 60 day tourist visa and the 30 day extension then he's gonna border bounce for another 30 days. He seems to understand that he's not getting the whole time out of just the visa he has an an extension though so I didn't mention it ;)

Tod, I am confused, how does the OP get what he says is 109 days out of a SETV and an extension? I admit to having not counted the days myself

Paul, I am hoping one of the admins will reply to your post because I am not one of the experts. I am not sure Lance understands your situation properly. It does not matter if you are married to a Thai, if you enter on a SETV not a Non-O based on marriage surely that SETV that you enter on is the only thing that can be extended and that only once for 30 days. You would need to do a border bounce to get a 30 visa exempt entry before the end of your extension. If it is not too late, you could consider a METV. It does sound like you wish to go down the Non-O based on marriage route, but that would also be an option

No I can get 60 days based on marriage

No problem. You have a visa so you don't need onwards flights. Just have 20k handy and all your marriage documents for 60 day extension.
