Hello everyone - the tourist visa 60 day +30 day extension. Does that mean you can book flights for a 90 day trip before entering the kingdom or does it mean you book flights for 60 days stay and then in Thailand change your flight for the additional 30 days and apply for 30 day extension in the kingdom? Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the interpretation of the 60-day tourist visa plus a 30-day extension in Thailand. It is clarified that travelers should ideally book a flight for 60 days, then apply for the 30-day extension in Thailand. There are varying opinions about booking a flight for 90 days, with concerns about airline policies regarding onward tickets. While some found success with one-way tickets and longer bookings, caution is advised due to potential issues at check-in.

I have an email from the Thai Ottawa embassy confirming that the return date doesn't matter. So will show it to flight check-in staff if necessary. My flight is booked for exactly 90 days.

- if you apply for the tourist visa 60 day +30 day extension via e-visa. Do you receive a letter with a 90 day stay or do you just get 60 days stay initially then have to go immigration in Thailand to get the 30 days extension added

Ok i flew klm bought a one way ticket with them and no problem

its airline been stopping people not immigration

Many get away with it, but many don’t and have to panic buy an onward ticket at the checkin desk.

The risk isn't with Thai immigration, the risk is an airline gate staff asking to see onward flight.

2nd choice is bulletproof, 1st choice is risky if an airline wants to see proof before boarding to Thailand

Yes, you’ll often get away with doing otherwise, but your return flight should be within 60 days. These days you can just go online and get a cheapo ‘fake’ onward ticket if doing it by the book is not your preference.
