Hi, I have booked flights leaving Birmingham 16 January returning 1 April. Which is 74 days. The visa is 60 days. I understand that I can get a extension of another 30 days while in Thailand for after the 60 day visa expires? Does anybody see any problems with that? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is traveling to Thailand for 74 days with a 60-day tourist visa. They inquire about extending their visa and whether there are issues with their travel plans. Comments highlight that while it's possible to get a 30-day extension, the main concern is having an onward flight ticket, which may be required by airlines. Others share their experiences of similar travel without issues.

One of the most asked questions here.

If you are entering on a long term visa, like a Non O or Non OA or Thailand Elite you do not need an onward flight out from Thailand.

If on a visa exempt entry or tourist visa you need to have a flight ticket out of Thailand within the amount of days that your initial entry allows, regardless that you can get an extension in country. It doesn’t need to be a return ticket, any ticket out of Thailand will suffice.

In theory immigration can deny you entry if you don’t but they rarely ever would, because they know you can get an extension.

Almost always the hang up will be when you try to board your plane. Many airlines will not allow you to board without an onward ticket within the number of days.

Some will let you. Many won’t. You probably don’t want to be the one scrambling to buy an onward ticket at the check in desk. Best option is a changeable ticket, and just change the date when you’re here.

Alternatively you can Google “onward flight ticket” and you’ll find a plethora of companies willing to sell you one for around $10.

Thanks. Do I do that nearer the date I fly from England or is there no time limit on cancelling it ? Also would I use a date a couple of weeks before end of 60 day visa or doesn't it matter. Cheers

From checking the websites that offer these tickets it seems they’re valid for a couple of weeks only. You could also buy a real ticket to Singapore at a cost of approx $40 and just not use it.

I don't understand how you get a onward ticket for around 12$. I've never heard of it before ?

Just do what Stuart said, Google "onward travel ticket" and they will let you rent a plane ticket for $10. They book you a ticket and then they cancel. You never fly, and the agent keeps your $10 as their fee. It's the exact same thing you could do yourself by booking a refundable ticket and cancelling, but they do all the work for you.
